Teddy Books

Teddy Stanley is a 60-something retired waitress. Three times married, twice widowed, once divorced, she lives beach side on the Oregon coast. The purchase of a bargain lid for her septic tank occasions the discovery of the body of a local real estate developer/good old boy. The local sheriff, a poker playing buddy of the deceased, could be the killer. The sheriff likes her friend Rob for the deed.

Teddy is going to help her friend Rob remodel a Prohibition-era inn/post-WWII road house/'90s restaurant into a vacation rental. First, they have to deal with an awful smell in a corner of the laundry room. After digging up a bunch of bones, they are going to have to find out how those bodies got there. There is no statute of limitations on murder, and someone is not too happy with all the questions Teddy and Rob are asking.

Teddy can't seem to convince Sheriff Sonny Hubbard that Evelyn was murdered. She is also having trouble convincing him that the dead redhead in Rob's hot tub was killed by someone other than Rob. Rob plays hide and seek with Sonny while Teddy and Billy, the breakfast cook at Petal's, do some digging into the local wild bunch, 1960 vintage.

Marrianne finds a body at the bottom of Teddy's garden and a second body appears in the same spot. The sheriff says murder by kite and blames Connie the kite flyer. Teddy isn't buying it. The media gets pushy, the public gets intrigued, and the bears come calling.

Sheriff Sonny Hubbard has had a series of strokes. Stuck in the hospital, he is having a hard time making anyone understand the peril of Death's Doorbell.

Snakes are wearing necklaces. A man nobody missed until he was found comes in on the tide—sort of. He may not be the first unmissed man according to Sheriff Sonny Hubbard.
