A broken dragon. An overlooked keeper. One choice that changes everything. Rowan Ashfell was never meant to ride. In Aryndale, dragons are bred for speed, and riders are trained to command, but Rowan is only a keeper, tending the ones no one else values. Until the storm. When a rare dragon is left shattered and marked for death, Rowan makes an unthinkable choice —he claims the beast no one wants. But Kaelthar is no ordinary dragon. As the creature begins to heal, so does something far more dangerous: a bond built on trust… not control. Aryndale does not tolerate deviation.

He saved a dragon. Now he must save him again. Rowan Ashfell thought the hardest part was keeping Kaelthar alive. He was wrong. After the dragon's first rise into the sky, whispers spread throughout Aryndale. Riders talk. Stablemasters watch. And Commander Varek's suspicions only deepen. Varek believes Kaelthar is dangerous. Perhaps even something far worse. Unable to destroy the dragon without cause, the commander issues a challenge instead: prove Kaelthar belongs among Aryndale's dragons—or lose the sky forever.

He proved Kaelthar could fly. Now he must learn what it truly means to trust a dragon. Rowan Ashfell has earned something he never thought possible: a place among Aryndale's riders. But while others see a dragon finally finding his wings, Rowan sees something more. Kaelthar is changing. Growing stronger. Faster. More confident with every flight. Under Eldric's guidance, Rowan begins training beyond the kingdom walls, where dragons hunt, soar, and live by instincts no rider can command. Yet something in the wilderness is watching. A shadow among the trees. A dragon no one can explain.
