About this listen

Can a human heart withstand the flames of a dragon’s soul?

For centuries, the dragons of Kalleen have ruled the skies. Blessed by the goddess of fire, those born of her power are destined to exist within two worlds while fully belonging to neither.

As the youngest daughter of the dragon queen, Amelia has always been torn between her humanity and winged form. In meeting Stephen, she found a blossoming love that gave her hope of finding balance. But it is a dream destroyed when her sister, and future queen, sets her sights upon the same man.

Forced from her lover’s side, Amelia embraces a self-imposed exile, taking refuge in the northern mountains. In this new life of solitude, she banishes painful memories by retreating to her dragon form, sheltering the wounded girl within. Yet it is an isolation that cannot last, as the new dragon queen’s cruelty bears down upon the kingdom, allowing an ancient enemy to rise.

Drawn from her banishment by the pleas of friends, Amelia must choose. Will she embrace the destructive beast within? Or draw upon the frail humanity that lingers dimly in her soul, in a desperate attempt to help her people and mend a broken heart?

I absolutely loved this story. New author for me. Loved her writing style and this world of Dragon shifters that she has created. I was drawn in from the first word and hated when the story came to an end.
Amelia is a strong and loving character who overcomes the betrayal of her own sister, the Queen. She fights for the people of her kingdom once she accepts how cruel her sister has become.
Good action, suspense, twists and turns and romance.
The narrator was so good. Loved her voice and accent. She breathed life into each if these characters. She did an amazing job.

Great story

This was a really good start to a new dragon shifter series! Amelia is the youngest daughter from the previous dragon queen which leaves her torn between her humanity and dragon form. When she met Stephen, she gave up the battle and focused on her love for him, but unfortunately her sister has her sights set on him as well. The story starts off with Amelia’s sister’s coronation which the queen chooses to sentence her to the temple to be a voice for the gods, a fate worse than death. She disobeys her sister’s orders and chooses to go to the northern mountains to be an exile and live out the rest of her days. But the people being treated poorly by the new queen have other plans and she must choose to help them or remain an exile. The world building that KL created was absolutely amazing along with the vivid descriptions and scenery. I loved the midievil feel of this book with the characters as knights, dragons, damsels in distress, queens, and princesses. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Kylie did a great job with this narration! Her voice drew me in from the start and her English accent was perfect for this book. I liked the different voices she used for each character and the flawless flow between them made it easy to distinguish who was talking.

Great Start & Vivid World Building

I really enjoyed this book. Honestly give me dragons any day and I'm pretty invested. I really liked Amelia's character. She was strong and had her morals aligned but was very vulnerable as well. Traits like this really help make a character more relatable. While most of the story was predictable I was definitely engaged the entire time. Even though I liked the story and it was engaging, I just felt like nothing really happened. I wished there was more to the story. It went by very fast. I also wasnt a big fan of the other characters back stories. They were important to the story but I feel like they could have been done through conversation instead of chapters. This would have opened up the story line for something more. Although there were a couple of things that didn't work for me, overall I really enjoyed this. with how the book ended I'm very curious on how the rest of the series will turn out.

Audio review (please note this does not affect my rating of the book)
I really enjoyed the narration of this book. The voice as really nice to listen to and I felt like she emulated Amelia well. My only issue was there wasn't much difference of affliction in the other characters voices. I really had to make sure I was following the conversation and who was actually speaking. I would still recommend this audio though.

Embracing The Dragon by K.L. Bone is book one in the Flames Of Kalleen Series that I listened to on audio narrated by Kylie Stewart. This is the first book by K.L that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last one. She does an amazing job pulling you into the story. Kylie did an amazing job narrating. She uses different voices for the characters which made it easy to follow along. The book does end on a cliffhanger but book two Releasing The Dragon is already released. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves paranormal/shifters books.

Amazing Read....Ends On Cliffhanger

I really enjoyed this dragon shifter story. KL Bone made a fantastic new world and I would love to spend more time in it. The main character goes through so much betrayal yet she still can't believe her people when they tell her how they are suffering and of all the injustices happening. Meanwhile, she ends up meeting her mate which is another great story by itself. In the end let me just say I love a heroine who can kick butt. I look forward to reading more from Bone. The narrator in this story did a great job bringing life to these characters. It was a perfect pace and time as well.
