Nell'agosto 2018 la quindicenne svedese Greta Thunberg decise di scioperare dalla scuola per richiamare l'attenzione sul mancato rispetto dell'Accordo di Parigi sul clima. Da allora ogni venerdì si mette davanti al Parlamento a Stoccolma, o in altre piazze del mondo, con un cartellone scritto da lei su cui si legge "Skolstrejk för Klimatet" (Sciopero dalla scuola per il clima). Quello slogan, quel gesto hanno ispirato migliaia di giovani e sono diventati un fenomeno globale.
