Still reeling from the devastating revelations about his own family, DI Simon Wise has no time to catch his breath. When Lily Rowan doesn’t laugh at his jokes, Archie Goodwin knows something’s wrong. Their first case officially began on March 4th of that year, and it is argued that “The Adventure of the Resident Patient” possibly took place in October of 1881, depending on which version of the story you read. But what happened during the rest of 1881? Or all of 1882?

England, 1930. An antiques dealer is found robbed and murdered in a third class train compartment on a remote Suffolk branch line. The police believe they know who the killer is, and an arrest is soon made.
