  • Summary

  • Tortoise Investigates is the home of Tortoise's award-winning investigative series.

Listen to our latest series Who Trolled Amber?, TimeOut's #1 recommended podcast of 2024. Millions of us watched the celebrity trial of the century, Depp v Heard, in 2022. Amber Heard lost and Johnny Depp was vindicated. But what if Amber was actually the victim of an organised trolling campaign? What if the online hate against her was manufactured? Alexi Mostrous, the reporter who brought you Sweet Bobby and Hoaxed, investigates what happened to Amber and who might have been responsible.

Also on Tortoise Investigates, you'll find our other award-winning, chart-topping series: Sweet Bobby, Hoaxed, Pig Iron, Into the Dirt, Three Doors, Down and Dr Anti-Vax and Walter's War.

Even intelligent people can be conned.

There is no need to look for a motive from the perpetrator. The thrill is in the control they exert by pulling the strings and leaving a trail of destruction in their wake: the mark of a narcissist and psychopath.

Possibly the best podcast of the year

An extraordinary story, beautifully told. This podcast has everything. Moving and unique. And it just gets more compelling.

eye-opening and shocking

A brilliantly compelling account of catfishing, the impact of coercive control on the victim and the extraordinary lack of recognition of wrongdoing from the British police and justice system.

Ep2 plays ep3!

When you click on ep2 it actually plays ep3. I was about a minute in before I realised I’ve just heard some spoilers and now can’t find where to listen to the actual ep2 because ep3 is ep3 but ep2 is ep3! Confused.

Who trolled Sweet Bobby Amber?

I asked Audible staff why, when I clicked "play" on the Amber Heard podcast, what I got was a completely different podcast about "Sweet Bobby".

They said indifferently that there was nothing about thatr in the reviews. So herewith a one-star review, since apparently the Audible site won't get fixed without it.

I would like to listen to the "Who Trolled Amber?" podcast. I've tried clearing cookies, I've unfollowed and refollowed the podcast, and I tried asking Audible staff for help. Nothing works.
