Where most adventure/romance books suffer from a lack of plot “Wormwood Summer” falls close to having the opposite problem. The story and characters build up quickly before boiling down to a core set so that reading this book feels like riding a bullet train through a gothic station.
I would have liked to have seen different pacing with the romance. The relationship feels rushed with little courtship and it becomes uncannily stable given the dynamic personalities involved. I could see this develop into a compelling plot in the next book if the author opts to explore the pitfalls and underlying motivators of a wildfire romance, particularly concerning issues of trust.
Greg Tremblay once again delivers a rich performance drawing out the heart of the characters and narrative he performs.
Overall I look forward to the next book and may pick up physical copies of this series if it develops well.

loved it cant wait for book 2 and 3
loved the narrator he is one of my favorite narrators i have a lot of audio books done by him. okay now that, that is out of the way lets move on to the book. it was entertaining, funny, kept good pace, and had good characters. if you like books with vampires, werewolves, Damon's, dragons, fae and so much more then you will love this book like i did. and i can not wait for book 2 and 3 to come to audio i know that i will buy them. and i hope that Greg Tremblay will be the narrator for those to as well. so at first is wasn't sure i wanted to buy this audio, only for the fact that when i was reading so of the review for the book not the audio there were some that said that the book was hard to follow. that there was a book that came before the wormwood summer book. so i looked it up and yes there is one. but you know i took a chance and got the audio any way without ever reading the book that came before and you know what i am so happy it did. i didn't feel lost at all and the story went well. but again that was my view. i can tell you that if you get this book you will not regret it i know that i didn't. so please come out with books 2 and 3 on audio I'll be waiting. 😀
Really enjoyed it. It’s not slow and the characters are easy to follow. Can’t wait for the second book to come to Audible.
