About this listen

Clever and ambitious, Special Agent Adam Darling (yeah, he's heard all the jokes before) was on the fast track to promotion and success until his mishandling of a high profile operation left one person dead and Adam "on the beach". Now he's got a new partner, a new case, and a new chance to resurrect his career, hunting a legendary serial killer known as the Crow in a remote mountain resort in Oregon.

Deputy Sheriff Robert Haskell may seem laid-back, but he's a tough and efficient cop - and he's none too thrilled to see feebs on his turf - even when one of the agents is smart, handsome, and probably gay. But a butchered body in a Native American museum is out of his small town department's league. For that matter, icy, uptight Adam Darling is out of Rob's league, but that doesn't mean Rob won't take his best shot.

This was a good-as-expected JL tale - engaging story with a good romantic element and sweet ending. The narration, if paced a little slow for my preferences, matched the story perfectly with a strong voice that created a good mental picture of the two equally strong main characters.

Solid JL tale

The narrator was excellent, clear distinction voices for each character.

The plot was good and held my attention throughout. The relationship aspect didn't get in the way and was quite naturally incorporated into the story. plot before sex, thank goodness.

I loved the two main characters, they were believable and serviced the story.

I do like Josh's books and would love a follow up to these characters.

Excellent thriller

So once again I've really enjoyed listening to the audio version of a Josh Lanyon book that I've previously read. The story is very good, with a well crafted mystery and a believable relationship between the two main characters that ends with a HFN that feels as if it will go into HEA territory beyond the scope of the book.

I was initially unsure about the narration of Gomez Pugh as it felt a little flat to begin with in comparison to the other audio books I've listened to recently, but his voice grew on me over the course of the novel and he differentiated between the characters well. So I will be getting more books narrated by him in future.

Overall, a good story, very well narrated, and something that I will listen to again.

Another good rendition of a Josh Lanyon novel

It makes all the difference when a story meets the right person, or voice, to read it. It good book is made better.
More thriller than romance. Though, isn't it strange how that can also be the reverse? It is more romantic because the focus reversed.

An entertaining book that is well read.
