About this listen

Watch out for the Assassin’s Claws....

Clay Moreno is a paid killer, just like his four brothers. It’s the family business - they fight together, they die together. Whether they’re working as a group or alone, they are a tight unit who protect their own.

Clay drew the short straw on their latest mission: Assassinate the American president. He knew the case was going to be tough, but the last thing he expected to find was his mate...the president’s own son. The fact that he began the case with plans to seduce his way into the White House via that same son is beside the point. What his mate doesn’t know shouldn’t hurt him....

Nick Jackson is lonely and ordinary in a family of overachievers. He doesn’t want to do photo ops for the press, prep for the next year’s tests over the summer or any of the hundreds of other things his mother hassles him about. All he wants is to relax after his first year of college, work on his tan...and maybe find a boy to flirt with.

This is the first in a new series of short listens. Note: While MPREG exists in this world, we won’t have a birth in every book. This book contains killer cats, ninja bunnies, and a life-changing mating bite. Get ready for naughty-knotty fun and low-ball humor as only Susi Hawke can provide.

Loved Nick and Clay together, they just seemed like they were only made for each other from the moment they met. Brilliantly written and narrated

So when I read Walk Tall I dithered between a 3* and 4* - ending on a 3* because with it being the first book in the series I didn’t feel much of a connection between the main characters Clay and Nick because it was a quick read and didn’t leave much room for a build up between the two guys. The book and story arc itself is good and interesting where an assassin hired to kill the president meets his son at a party and they hit it off. Clay (the assassin) sees the president’s son (Nick) as his way in to his mission only for fate to stick a spanner in the works. The ninja bunnies were cool, and I want to find out more about COME and Clay’s brothers. The audiobook worked that bit more than the kindle version for me because of the narrator. Kenneth Obi is my favourite narrator and through him I felt the connection between the two characters more than I did when reading it and for that reason I’m thinking of re-rating my kindle review because it’s clear the connection is there...I was just missing it somehow.

Sweet, short shifter tale.

While a short listen as described this was definitely a fun, cute, sexy listen :). Looking forward to queuing up the next one.

Cute

unfortunately it has one of the most overused troupes ever and I'm kinda over it, all on me, but can't say it helped my enjoyment.

it was what it was

Clay has one mission which is to kill the President. Little does he know he’d find his mate within the target’s family. Duty against love. It’s a terrible spot to be in. But Nick makes his decision easier. Good narration...
