Story
A production company wants to make a movie about Isabel Fielding’s life, but Leah knows this is a huge mistake. When the actress cast to play Leah is found murdered, she’s proven right in the grisliest of ways. It seems like a straightforward case: the deadliest ever female serial killer escaped prison a few hours before the murder. But Leah’s son Tom is first on the scene and Seb, Leah’s boyfriend, isn’t convinced by Tom’s innocent act. Even Leah must admit she doesn’t really know her son after he disappeared for months without contact.

Story
In a city as old as London, the discovery is hardly surprising. But when scratch marks are found on the inside of the coffin lid, Detective Jane Tennison believes she has unearthed a mystery far darker than any she's investigated before. However, not everyone agrees. Tennison's superiors dismiss it as a historic cold case and the Church seems desperate to conceal the facts from the investigation. It's clear that someone is hiding the truth and perhaps even the killer. Tennison must pray she can find both - before they are buried forever.

Women are rarely cold-blooded killers. But when famous philanthropist Hugo Fletcher is found dead, there is no doubt in anybody's mind that the killer is a woman. And it is clear from the precision of the planning that this was no crime of passion. It was an execution. The victim was revered the world over for his charitable work with trafficked Eastern European prostitutes, and as at least one of these girls is missing, Detective Chief Inspector Tom Douglas is certain that there has to be a connection.

Summary
The electrifying sequel to One for Sorrow, by the Wall Street Journal best-selling author of Silent Child.Leah Smith has a new name, a new job and a new home. The sleepy seaside town, Clifton-on-Sea, is a refreshing change from the gloomy moors of Yorkshire. She couldn’t be farther away from her serial killer stalker.
Or so she thinks...
A new name isn’t enough to make her forget her past. Leah must come to terms with the events that occurred at Crowmont Hospital, especially when police discover the mutilated body of a young woman. Leah and Tom struggle with the consequences of their actions on the moors and how they may have led to murder.
While a serial killer is on the loose, Leah throws herself into solving a different puzzle. She meets George, an elderly local man who suffered a heartbreaking childhood. In 1944, when George was just 10 years old, his mother perished in a fire at the family home. His sister, Abigail, went missing during the fire, presumed dead. Abigail’s body was never recovered from the ashes.
Twenty years later, George received a photograph of a young woman bearing a striking resemblance to his sister, Abigail. Perhaps she didn’t die after all.
George is not a well man, and time is running out to uncover what happened to little Abigail. Leah is drawn into the mystery, keen for any distraction from her own troubles. With assistance from George’s grandson, Mark, she vows to help. But even as she immerses herself in George’s tragic past, she can never escape the one name that haunts her nightmares: Isabel Fielding...

Save me now! 3 hours of lost time was enough for me!!
Enjoyed the first one and I was looking forward to book 2. Oh how wrong I was!
The narration started to grate on me as her voice seemed to have slowed. The lack of Isabelle’s voice made Leah’s a constant drone.
The story if you can call it that was repetitive. If I heard one more time about doing the Plank exercise or self defence classes .... sorry I had to return.
I did however skip to the epilogue and that didn’t even enthral me to give it an extra star.

Blackborrow Can't Save Denzil!
I've said before that I have a dysfunctional relationship with Sarah Denzil's book, I really enjoyed her stories while recognising some non-trivial flaws in the storylines. This time, I definitely feel short-changed. It's a book that could have done with much more from the author, there is a side story which has some merit and some of the writing is up to scratch. However, the plot feels lazy, too much pure coincidence, this needed the extra hour or two that the first book was given.
The highlight though was an excellent performance by Jasmine Blackborrow. She put these characters out there in fine fashion but even her efforts weren't enough to save it.
If I was being cynical I might suggest that this one was rushed out too quickly to a deadline. It needed some real structural work to make it a worthy follow-up to the original. It's not the worst book in the world but I wouldn't go out of my way to read another by this author now.

Enthralling Storyline.
Both books in this series are very intense and so very addictive. The storyline is very graphic at times, but necessary to portray what it could be like being faced with a sociopathic serial killer. The story is well written and progresses at a fast, fluid pace.
Fantastic narration from Jasmine Blackborrow - excellent character differentiation - I will most certainly be looking out for other books narrated by her!

Oh dear...
I am a Sarah Denzil fan ...but something went wrong here! Firstly, to anyone who hasn't read the previous book - One for Sorrow - you do have to (to understand this book). In my opinion, the purpose of Two for Joy is basically just to complete One for Sorrow! But because it's not long enough (50%) to make it a complete book, suddenly the main character becomes a detective herself, investigating some arbitrary mystery (the other 50%) which is totally irrelevant. So no I don't recommend this book and I hope the author goes back to the style of her previous books.

A superb continuation of this British series…
Those exceptional Brits! I do so enjoy my British mysteries! Note: One must read these in order, starting with Book 1, “One for Sorrow.” As I anxiously listened to the second in the series, “Two for Joy,” I was delighted to hear that brilliant author Sarah A. Denzil was joined by the equally talented narrator Jasmine Blackborow. I now look forward to “Three for a Girl.” Going back and forth and forth between the Leah and the devious Isabel, I intensely listened throughout the day into the early morning hours. Denzil treats us to a suspenseful, edge-of-your-seat thriller, complete with twists and turns and suspicious subplots I never saw coming… and that totally unexpected and secretive ending {{{BLOODY HELL}}}. Worthy of a treasured credit, but as was the case, I found this at the reasonable price of $11+. Highly recommended? Indeed! I am again on the rooftop, “Epic, I scream. EPIC! EPIC! EPIC!

On the run
Protected but not safe. This is how Leah and Tom felt when placed in the witness protection program and given new names. They no longer felt safe from Isabel even after moving away. They had to live like ghosts living outside the lines of society forced to live constantly on the move.
Narrator:
Jasmine Blackbarrow narrated Two for Joy. Her performance was stunning. I give her a standing ovation. The sound quality and tone was ideal. She really brought this story to life. The British accent was spot on.
Overall :
I liked how Leah and Tom behaved suspiciously lending towards a more exciting possibility.
The distraction that was created for Leah’s character was clever and interesting. Although I was a tad disappointed how much time was spent addressing this other plot. I wanted something more substantial from Isabel’s character and her hunt to find Leah. It felt a little anticlimactic with how it was resolved and concluded between Leah and Isabel.
It was still an exciting read especially with Isabel’s point of view.
