About this listen
A grieving teen. A cursed forest. A tabletop character hiding a deadly secret...
In the game world of Calambria, young adventurer Sebastian journeys beside his father through snowstorms, monsters, and mounting unease. But when they stray into the forbidden Brood Forest, the careless release of an arrow awakens something ancient and vengeful—something that will change everything.
In the real world, sixteen-year-old Colin is drowning in grief. After losing his dad, school is a nightmare and life feels unmoored. The only place he feels connected to anything is around the gaming table—where he plays Sebastian.
But as Colin’s story and Sebastian’s fate intertwine, one question rises above all else: is this just a game... or something more?
The Warlock at Ridge Valley is the emotionally rich and genre-blending first novel in the Calambrian Adventures series. Perfect for fans of TTRPG lore, coming-of-age stories, and classic fantasy with a modern twist.

I love the way the story ebbed and flowed.
I couldn’t wait to hear the next chapter of the story which I listened to while driving to and from work. It made my journey so much more interesting and having purchased the rest of the series in book format. I can honestly say I can’t wait for the series to be made into audiobooks.
Thank you, Mike for a great story both read and listened to. I can’t wait for the next story.
Amazingly sensitive, and quite engrossing.

The blend of ‘real life’ and the fantasy setting breaks the book up and allows you to see the character growth in both Colin & Sebastian. It’s a story about friendship, self awareness/growth, overcoming challenges and these come across strongly throughout the book.
I wish this book was around when I was a teenager as I think it would have really called out to me, but as an adult now I can still relate to Colin/Sebastian’s journey.
The Narrator was superb throughout and made the story enjoyable and engaging.
I hope there is a squeal and I’ll definitely be looking out for more books written by Mike Hibbert!
The book I didn’t realise I needed
