Summary

Tantor Audio presents Books 1-3 in USA Today bestselling author Nancy Warren's Vampire Knitting Club series.

Lucy inherits an Oxford knitting shop...and so much more....

Like the vampires who live downstairs and pop up to the shop when they run out of wool, or for their late-night knitting club. They've even offered to help Lucy learn how to knit. She discovers she's a witch and has some quirky relatives she never knew about. Her grandmother's supposed to be dead, but keeps showing up. It's enough to send Lucy screaming back to Boston, except there's a mystery to solve and Oxford and her new vampire friends are kind of growing on her....

Like a Warm, Soft, Nitted Blanket ❤

This is not my first listen to this series and it is a comfortable one. The stories are good although sometimes the tiniest bit seen before. But the characters are genuinely likeable and I can't help but invest in their well-being. Although there is definite drama and an element of murder and chaos, it is never something a freshly brewed pot of tea won't cure. I love it ❤

The narrator does an excellent job at distinguishing between the different characters and her voice is really pleasant to listen to.

adult fantasy mystery, without the XXX

I love these books. I'm almost done with the VKC books and keen to read the authors other works in this world. it's got the simple comfort mystery elements of the smokies stackhouse, midnight hour, or even Harry Potter, except these are definitely adult stories without the s£X and violence in most adult works. Really nice to have an adult protagonist in the late 20s-early 30s age range too, but I think anyone could easily like Lucy's stories.

the narration isn't fantastic because they aren't great with brittisisms and accents, but I think the writing compensates, and it is well preformed. I think a bit more practical experience in accents etc and it could easily be a 5* performance

Cosy but the villain is introduced too soon.

This is a book that you don't have to think too hard about. Cosy kind of mysteries but the villain is introduced too soon. By the 3rd book in the series I missed out 15 chapters because I knew what was going to happen and could still understand the ending with no problem at all.
It is light, frothy but whatever you do give yourself a break between the books. The street by street description of Oxford at times made it feel like an A-Z not a mystery novel. We get it you are an American in Oxford England. Wow. We don't need to be told down this street turn right take the next left and you are at the library. The narrator is good and keeps all the accents, ages genders going really well. Very good performance. Good for knitting to but don't listen to more than one at a time, otherwise you will know all the tropes at once.

Poor narration

Oh my! The narrator has a very odd way of reading. And her accents and pronunciations of English words need a lot of work. We don’t call a mirror a meeor for instance. The story is fun, but I think I’d prefer to read it for myself, rather than trying to knit while listening

Great story but….

Oh my, the narrator really needs to do her research, especially with some English place names and possible colloquialisms. Or at least get what she says checked by an editor. (For audio books, would that be an “auditor”? LOL).

Warwick is pronounced “Warrick”
Affluent is aff-luent, not a-fluent.

And in this instance, row is pronounced like cow, a row being an argument.

There are times when the narration also lacks a natural rhythm, settling into bizarre speech patterns that can make some sections of the book quite hard to listen to. Overall though, the stories are great if a little predictable towards the end of each one, but no less enjoyable for all that.

This knitter loved it.

I really love these stories. Yes Sarah Zimmerman is terrible at accents but that doesn’t ruin it. She still has a nice way of reading.

Definitely judge this book by its cover

If you want a book to soothe your soul this could be for you. This is a cozy mystery with a paranormal edge, and let’s not forget a whole lot of knitting. I’ve been listening to these stories none stop and crocheting at the same time, it’s exactly what I needed. The performance by Sarah Zimmerman is wonderful, her Australian accent goes to a few other continents but she really performs the characters that brings life into the story. I’m now on book 5, I’m completely hooked (little bit of crochet humour there). I’ve recommended this to mul

Good in parts…..

I like the story, it’s very ‘American in Oxford’ of course but not to be despised because of that. However the narrator, charming though she is, needs to be careful. A fluent person may talk nicely but I think she meant affluent! And I’m not sure where War - wick is. A little hint, it’s pronounced Warick
