This is the first book in what looks to be an outstanding series. The story is set in a complex world and full of adventure, action, and jaw-dropping twists. I absolutely loved Nicolas and his friends, they are amazing and very well drawn. The humour throughout the book is fantastic, it had me snort-laughing many times. The ending came as a complete surprise to me!
Timothy Drennan’s narration is brilliant, his different voices for the characters are superb.

I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much throughout an audiobook before. The humour is constant even in the dark times. Timothy has a fantastic sense of presence and range of voices that had me in stitches. Great combination guys. I’m so looking forward to the next book.

I really enjoyed this audiobook! At first I was a little worried that the narrator didn't suit me , but I'm glad I stuck it out because the way he told the story was fantastic! You could really hear the emotion in his voice and it was easy to distinguish the characters from each other.

I absolutely loved this ragtag group of aspiring heroes. I loved how nothing was straightforward or predictable , I was rooting for them the whole way ! It also had a very unexpected twist which has me really looking forward to the second installment !

There were moments that I found my mind losing focus on the tale , but it usually did reel me back in very quickly as it was quite fast paced.

Overall I had a wonderful time with plenty of laughs out loud and will be continuing with the series! I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a unique and different take on the "hero on a quest" fantasy genre!
