Summary

Breaking News: Rugby’s bad boy marries his best friend’s little sister.

If Renn Brewer would’ve asked me to marry him, I would’ve said no. Why? One, his reputation precedes him. His name is in the headlines at least once a month. Two, he’s not just my brother’s best friend. They’re teammates. And three, I’m in my self-care era.

Unfortunately, a version of me equates self-care with bad choices.

The cocktail in my hand—similar to the one that got me into this situation—is the prettiest shade of pink. It’s almost the same color as the giant rock on my left hand. And instead of discussing an annulment, I’m considering a 90-day marriage of convenience to the man I accidentally married in Las Vegas.

Renn didn’t propose marriage. But he does deliver a proposal I might be unable to turn down.

USA Today and Amazon charts best-selling author Adriana Locke delivers a "spicy & sweet" forbidden sports romance with a marriage of convenience that will make you swoon!

Adriana Locke puts her own spin on brother’s best friend, marriage of convenience sports romance and I love, love, loved everything about it. Adriana Locke is a gifted author with a wonderful writing style and her stories are original and captivate your attention from beginning to end. The characters are the stars of her stories, they are relatable and easy to connect with; they are who you would want to be friends with and more. Blakely Evans is celebrating her thirtieth birthday with her best friend Ella St. James in Las Vegas. Blakely knows what she wants in life and now that she is hitting her thirties, it is time she finds someone to settle down with, but first it is time to celebrate her birthday. Then her brother Brock, with his best friend and rugby teammate, join them in Vegas and move them to their suite, Renn’s suite. Renn is a player and non-commitment type of guy, everything Blakely does not want a man, yet she secretly crushes on him. Because of the best friend rule, Blakely was off-limits to him, but a part of him always felt drawn to her. Ella and Brock left the two on their own and they had a blast, so much so they wound up married. Renn, who always had little trust in women, wonders if they are dating him for his money or fame, instead of who he is as a person. Except he does not feel that way about Blakely and because of the way things are with his team and his Dad he thinks it is better to stay married. He offers Blakely something she really wants, and she accepts his offer, so they agree on a ninety-day marriage of convenience. With the perfect balance of drama, romance, family drama, angst, heartfelt emotions and steamy romance, there is never a dull moment in this beautifully plotted story.  The character growth and development is phenomenal, as is her world building and the dynamics of the relationships she builds. Speaking of dynamics, I hope this book is the start of a series, the Brewer family series, because Renn’s siblings and mom need their own books. Adriana Locke, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧And for the fabulous narration performed by Avery Caris and John Lane, who brought each character to life with a complete understanding of who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting and believable. Lane nailed it as Renn, swoon worthy with the right amount of self-assured confidence without going overboard or seeming arrogant. Caris Blakely was spot-on, grasping her strength and independence perfectly. Both were just as amazing performing the roles of secondary characters, too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These entertaining storytellers are versatile voice artists and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another wonderful listen.

Renn and Blakely's brother's best friend romance is sweet, cute, and heartwarming. Renn is very handsome! Blakely is beautiful, sweet, and smart. This is a great forbidden sports romance. The story is beautifully written. I liked the humor, and the family bonds in the story. Avery Caris and John Lane did an excellent job bringing this story to life. They are perfect as Renn and Blakely. I will listen to this audiobook again. Looking forward to listening to Foxx's story.

This audiobook had a little bit of everything I love in my feel good stories. We have a good amount of banter between Renn and Blakely; a decent chunk of funny moments between not only them but with other characters; a good sassy and protective best friends, an older brother that loves his sister more than anything; great big family dynamics and a big Easter egg. That’s my favourite part!!! And of course this audiobook also had two brilliantly talented narrators in John Lane and Avery Crais. They added as much to the story as Adriana Locke’s writing. 5/5 perfect stars from me

I enjoyed listening to a very sweet and sexy story about a Rugby star and the bff’s sister. Blakely and Renn are made for each other. The way Renn has always orbited around Blakely was awesome. Blakely is one strong lady, having to deal with bad press. They both are fun together. Loved them!

PERFORMANCE REVIEW & RATING: 5 Stars

This was my first listen by Avery Caris, and that’s all I need to put her in the plus column of narrators. She brought Blakely to life really well and her voice has an ease to it that I know will be versatile. I can’t wait to listen to her more in the future. I’m not new to John Lane and I’ve always liked his narrations and his rendition of Renn just solidified my enjoyment of him.

STORY REVIEW & RATING: 5+ Stars

I haven’t been very consistent in my reading of Adriana Locke’s words, but you know what has been consistent? Every time I pick up a story written by this woman, the feelgood and swoon factor never misses a beat! Her ability to create not just realistic and relatable characters that you want to hug the life out of but also surrounds them with supportive family and secondary characters that are uplifting and you can’t wait to devour their journey, is a thing of beauty, and she does this every.single.time! I know there are a ton of books that I haven’t devoured yet, but I am confident that once I do, they are all going to wrap themselves around my heart and hang on tight! I just know it!

There is really no circumstance in this journey that I didn’t enjoy/like/love. The premise of the story is not unique but yet Adriana sucked me in from the very beginning and I never really wanted to stop listening. If I’d have started this audiobook in the morning as opposed to when I did, I would have spent the whole day with Renn & Blakely in my head! There is zero doubt about that! Their story was easy but not soft. Their relationship flowed easily from friends to more because Adrina gave them the time in the storyline to be away from the frenzy and ripple effect their ”marriage” was sure to cause, to just be and enjoy themselves in their spontaneity. I really liked this plot-point because I can’t even think of the last story I read with this trope that utilized this plot device. It was genius for them, and it made me, the reader/listener, able to invest and root for them as a couple that much more.

The story isn’t all rainbows and gumdrops, but again, I expected that. Oopsie Vegas marriages, no matter who you are, always come with circumstances that are not sunshiny LOL So again, relatability and realism was strong through this journey, and I appreciated the heck out of that! Speaking of none rainbows …

**SPOILER ALERT**
Renn’s father offering money is not an uncommon conflict in situations such as this, but Adriana doubled down on this plot-point and gave it just enough edge that I audibly gasped at the audacity of it all. She leveled it up in a way that was so perfect I may have screamed “YES GIRL!! And mom …
“I want you out of my house in twenty minutes. Take your car and clothes. The rest is mine.”
“Rory—”
“You will not disrespect my children. You will not talk to another woman like you spoke to Blakely, and you will not threaten anyone and expect me to sit back quietly. Did you forget who I am, Reid?”
He trembles with anger. She smirks. “You came into this marriage with nothing. You’ll leave with nothing
I mean it just does not get better than this entire scene! **END SPOILER**

Well done!!

This story was sexy and fun. It was entertaining and captivating and left me wanting more from not just all the Brewers, but also Renn & Blakely. It’s always a good sign when you feel like you could read about a couple forever. Adriana blended all the characteristics I love about a romance fiction journey perfectly. The story wasn’t too much of this or the other … *happy sigh* it was perfect!
