Every one of us, at one time or another, will have to face up to the challenges that come our way. And there are two ways of meeting them: negatively, where blame is the answer, where other people are at fault, where you haven’t been treated fairly. Or positively, where you own the situation, learn and grow from it and become a better person at the end of it.

Great book.
Great book. It's got a string biblical theme throughout which I thought might put me off given that I'm neither religious or from a Christian background. However, the ideas presented are practical and useful and I was very impressed by the interpretation of the biblical verses to put forward the ideas in the book.
Well worth it.

Too much reliance on prayer.
Some good ideas but it always seems to turn back to prayer, God, faith and the Bible as an answer. As an atheist I tend to trust science instead of this, but despite being open to ideas it is mentioned far too often for me.

the Power of Positive Thinking
A classic ! Kind of reminds me of How to win friends and influence people. I loved the fact that the author is the narrator, some of the storys he used, i found to be quite funny and had a few good laughs through out listening. I loved it ! It really emphasized the power of faith and prayer which I find absolutely essential to surviving day to day life. Most people can use all the tip they can get to stay positive. I esspecially enjoyed his remedy for worrying. I helps.

I love the way NVP cares about people. I love the way he refers to Scripture to lift and encourage people. It built my confidence I never knew I had. This book and it's tips and teachings are so easy to understand, a third grader can appreciate it as well as an adult. It's humbling and inspiring at the same time. I read it over several times a year because life can knock you down and be cruel.

I really wanted to listen to this but 5 min in, and they already started with, 'faith in god' as a way to cope. ugh really? If I wanted religion pushed down my throat I'd go to church. Avoid if you are not a person of God. Im a physics girl, can do without the metaphysical nonsense. Ill continue my search for a more scientific approach to positivity. Why "The Power of Positive Thinking"
I have to admit I have owned the book for almost a decade and struggled to get through it. Maybe the difference is the period which it was written in or his ability to tie the bible in. It just didn't create any feeling of curiosity or desire. The style of the book and the audio abridged version I felt lacked excitement and gratitude, that one should feel after hearing the message of Peale. This book and audio program has sold millions and I still recommend both as they have key principles that may help you look at your self differently. May you listen to this audio book and do what's most important which is take a thorough self analysis to understanding yourself. Conquer yourself by creating better habits by stacking good ones all day.

The one-star folks should have done some homework
Would you consider the audio edition of The Power of Positive Thinking to be better than the print version?
The audio edition of The Power of Positive Thinking is a wonderful complement to the print version. I have owned this book both in cassette and CD formats. It's nice to have it in a totally digital format that can go anywhere with me.
What about the narrator’s performance did you like?
I always prefer hearing the author read a book than a professional narrator for two reasons: First, the author knows where he/she wants the emphasis to be. Second, I can get some good insights as to the author's character.
Any additional comments?
The people who complain about the religiosity of the text have only their poor research for their problem. A quick overview of Dr. Peale's background would have revealed that he was a Christian minister and his doctorate was in theology. Dr. Peale pastored Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan for over 50 years. All of this information is readily available for anyone to see. My only complaint with Dr. Peale's writing is that it has a somewhat stilted style that is typical of most works originally published in the first half of the twentieth century.
