About this listen

In a gorgeous quay-side hotel in Cornwall, the long weekend is just beginning...

Claire Marlowe owns 'The Townhouse by the Sea' with Luca, the hotel's charismatic chef. She ensures everything runs smoothly - until an unexpected arrival checks in and turns her whole world upside down. And the rest of the guests arrive with their own baggage. There's a couple looking for distraction from a family tragedy; a man trying to make amends for an affair he bitterly regrets...and the young woman who thinks the Cornish village might hold the key to her past.

Here are affairs of the heart, secrets, lies and scandal - all wrapped up in one long, hot weekend.

Easy escapism with good narration...although the voices were a bit odd! Young men who sounded like spoof elderly toffs and capable young women who sounded like barbie dolls. That said, it's a pleasant tale with several intriguing interwoven stories and a satisfying if not unexpected ending.

Easy and enjoyable

Not my normal thriller but a lovely 'love' story. Excellent narration and well written with family stories running alongside each other and the town house being the shared base.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and looking at more books by both the same author and narrator.

Lovely easy listening story

Any additional comments?

I've never read anything by Veronica Henry before, this books cover grabbed me and I'm so glad I decided to take a chance. It was a wonderful relaxing story, the characters felt real and you cared about what happened to them. The narrator did a great job and that definitely helped pull me into the story so I forgot that I was really doing mundane household jobs.

So Relaxing

Brilliantly written. Kept me interested all the way through, on tenterhooks most of the time! The narrator is wonderful. Lots of voices so the narrator had to use many different accents which she did, brilliantly!

Fabulous story
