About this listen

This is the tale of a deadly conspiracy, an all-consuming obsession and an unlikely heroine.

Michael Aldridge, talented architect and devoted family man, has built his dream home on the Isle of Wight, but when strange coincidences take a sinister turn, he must uncover a long-forgotten secret before it's too late.

A wonderfully sinister new novella from the master of the chilling ghost story, The Going and the Rise questions how far you would go to realise your dream...and what you would risk to protect the one you love.

I think that maybe short stories are a better vehicle for horror than a full length book.

Absorbing listen

This is an entertaining supernatural story with a touch of pathos, there is a sense of foreboding even as the family are preparing to start a new beginning away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It does not end happily..!

A good supernatural thriller

It’s not set at Christmas but this short tale has something of the festive ghost story about it. A metropolitan architect experiences the uncanny while closeted on the Isle of Wight- lovely hints of Christie’s Endless Night and Dickens’ Signal Man with a dash of Hammer.
Lots of story for its length plus brilliant narration.

So much wonderful story successfully crammed into a few hours, not easy to do without losing something. Very satisfying listening.
