To put it plainly, this is the first time I’ve made the effort to write a full review. Because I wanted to encourage others to listen.
Don’t hesitate to take on this very long collection of Orwell. He is as relevant today as the works were intended to be then.

The variety of narrators across the numerous stories keeps it fresh. Most of the stories are really depressing and about the poor vs rich dichotomy. My favourite was the story based in Burma. What I did like was the insight you get to George Orwell’s life and thoughts about the world, and how they sculpted 1984.

Variety of narrators

So many great essays and lesser known gems here, as well as his best known classics. The narrations are excellent, well matched to the content. Jonathan Oliver is great, but they all are really.

wonderful narrations of some truly great works

A captivating glimpse into another society that may be rather like today's North Korea or China. There does seem to be a few sections of narration missing, albeit a few words where censorship may have been deployed. Unfortunate to use 1984 tactics. Otherwise, an intreaguing journey through a different society.

Excellent narration, captivating story

Not (of course!) an original error by Orwell, crept in later from bad transcriptions. Mill on the Floss attribution should read George Eliot as per original. “Decline and Fall” also wrong, apparently substituted for “Life of Johnson” in the same sentence of Bookshop Memories.

Great collection but errors x2! Mill on the Floss attributed to T.S. Eliot rather than George Eliot in Bookshop Memories
