About this listen

A chance encounter with a tabloid playboy lands a scrappy waif a place in high society.

Fainting in the notorious nobleman’s arms is the smartest move the self-proclaimed spazz ever made. Now her picture decorates every gossip rag in Britain, and the public wants to know who the Devil Duke’s new squeeze is.

Offered a sizable sum, Izzy De Luca travels to England where she will pose as the Duke of Devoy’s new bride. It seems the rake’s reputation needs some rehabilitation, and the fresh-faced orphan is just the girl to brighten his tarnished image.

Izzy enters a lavish world of wealth and privilege, but soon realizes her uptight employer is no laid-back lady charmer. Sparks fly between the two when the spirited American lets the impossibly handsome blue blood know she won’t be gentrified without a fight.

As they play out the carefully constructed charade, the jaded Duke finds himself drawn to Izzy’s rare brand of charm, and what begins as a collision of worlds ends in a union of love.

This may be a modern day Cinderella story, but this feisty commoner is no simpering sweetheart. She means to give our titled hero a run for his millions.

I really enjoyed this story , Trevor the demon duke is a misunderstood guy , he loves women sure but he's not the 'demon' he's made out to be , and naive little Izzy fainting in his arms isn't what he wanted to happen , now people want to know who is the girl he's locked in an intimate embrace with

I struggled to connect with Izzy at first , she acts a lot younger than her 20 years and is quite immature but it does add a certain innocence to the story and the narration of the characters was pretty spot on
looking forward to listening to the next book in the series

what a devil!

What a hilarious book, Isobel's sassy take no prisoners attitude was just brilliant, and had me laughing out loud as she drove her duke to distraction, and Virginia Ferguson's voice really brought the book to life..

hilarious

Book 1 in the series. Its a Royal story but in modern times , a modern fairytale, where a commoner finds her prince .
Tessa throws in a few twists and turns and a story with true love , even though the Hero and Heroine didn’t know they were meant to be together

Hero is Trevor. Heroine is Izzy .
You know it’s true love when Izzy turns Trevor’s life around . Trevor was just roaming in life with no purpose until he meets Izzy .
Trevor was a ladies man always changing Ladies. He got bored with them .
Trevor and Izzy became the Darlings of Britain and Izzy in the spotlight when she fainted and Trevor the Duke saved her .
Trevor asked her to change his reputation . First his image with the ladies , he’s Divorced with a child .

Virginia performance was good. Her British accent was perfect for the story . Virginia voice and accent was strong and smooth

This is the second story I have listen to by Tessa Bowen. I enjoyed this one way more. I think I just didn’t mesh well with the characters from the other book, the writing however was great with both books. But Izzy and Trev. I heart them. It’s a opposite attracts story. I was sucked in from page one. Iz’s over use of friggen and some other slangs didn’t really bother me, as she is portrayed as innocent and young. Her character was written correctly for her age, but I loved how she grew through this book, and her effect on the Duke. The duke, who thinks he is beyond anything real and wholesome, makes so many mistakes but learns from them in such a good way. The narration was really good, and the intonation for each character is what I would think they should sound like. The only thing is wished for, was the break up scene with the baroness, and Isabel’s restart in New York. And omg, a few scenes had me snorting! Accusing him of not being able to get it up! Dies! I love their banter.

Awesome,loved it!

The Devil Duke by Tessa Bowen pulled me in from the very beginning. I have always enjoyed an opposites attraction story. Izzy and Trev are too unique characters. I found Izzy to be irresistible and could see why Trev was attracted to her. She has a backbone which is also well appreciated. Tessa Bowen did a great job with the imagery in this book. I loved how Izzy was compared to a fairy and played well with Trev's daughter. The narration by Virginia Ferguson was well done. She added the right emotions to the characters banter. I would listen to more books by this author and narrator.
