Summary

In The Devil Duke, the beautiful but scheming baroness will stop at nothing to keep her man from falling for his new waifish house guest, to no avail. We catch up with the jilted aristocrat in The Demon Duchess.

Abigail Sutton does not take kindly to being dumped. Desperation leads her to seek comfort in the arms of her surly horse trainer, the mysterious Jack Johnson from America. A night of fleeting passion results in a life-altering “predicament”. Now, the baroness finds herself fighting for the attentions of an entirely different sort of man - a man who is much more than he seems - a man who might just offer her the family she’s never had. That is, if she can prove to him she is not just a pampered pain in the ass.

Her pursuit of the handsome but stubborn drifter lands the baroness in Montana of all places, where she will learn plenty of new skills - rope-tying and lasso-tossing, just to name two. Many surprises are in store for the newly thawed ice queen.

Heartbreak over one man will lead to true love with another....

A duchess of a listen

Book 2 in the series but it can be listened as a stand-alone . You see the characters in book 1 and this is their story. Tessa wrote this story in 2 continents . It takes a female that is lost and hurt and betrayed that is seeking confirmation about her worth . Heroine is Abigail . Hero is is Jack /John .
Abigail goes to see John for a night of passion .Abigail feels let down and betrayed and she sets out to feel like she’s worth something. John /Jack gives her that feeling. As Abigail follows John she ends up in Montana. While in Montana Abigail has to lean a new way of life , one that she’s not use to. The life is totally different thane what’s she’s use to .

Virginias voice was perfect for the story . Her voice was strong and clear. Her voice for the characters were perfect

A fabulous second chance romance

This is a brilliantly written second chance romance, it's entertaining, witty and very engaging. I really enjoyed this storyline, the premise is different than the first book in the series; however, it remains just as satisfying. The characters are well-developed, intriguing, and three-dimensional, with depth, vulnerabilities, and the capacity for growth. Abigail, the interloper in Izzy and Trevor's story, is the lead female character. Tessa Bowen cleverly introduces the real Abigail masked behind the veneer of an aristocracy, redeeming her into a woman that the readers/listeners root for. The enigmatic hero, Jack Johnson, is a super-hot American horse trainer and a complex character.

Jack's treatment of Abigail at times is hard, due to emotional barriers and his preconception of Abigail, believing her to be spoiled and entitled. Their relationship intensifies gradually, once the two-act on their desires, their connection is explosive and quite sensual.

Virginia Ferguson's performance is excellent. She does an absolutely outstanding job with the narration, immersing the listeners with all the animation and emotions found in the pages. I particularly enjoyed the low timbre she used for Jack's voice and Ducky's quacking. Overall, this is a fabulous story, and I highly recommend it.

Who doesn't want a second chance at love

what a great story, not read many second chance romances, but this ticked all the boxes for me, 2 different worlds colliding and then the chemistry between the two leading characters was hot!!..add to that the hilarious banter between them, and you have a hell of an audiobook

I just love Cowboys

As with The Devil Duke, I loved the story as written by Tessa Bowen and the narration of Virginia Ferguson. Give me British accents and an American Cowboy and I know that I am set for a good listen.

The story included a few surprises which made this even better.

will be listening to more by Tessa and Virginia.

Baroness Abigail Sutton and John Jackson

The writing is done very well, the characters are complex, and the situations they end up in after one night. Two people running from their own demons. Overall, it was a unique read that touches upon difficult situations and inspires strength, forgiveness and love. There are a lot of surprises in this wonderful story. This book has a lot of twists and turns that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
The narrator (Virginia Farguson) does a fabulous job with this beautiful story. She has a marvelous voice and does a brilliant British accent.
I enjoyed listening to this book and I definitely recommend this book!

Great Story! Great Narration!

The Demon Duchess by Tessa Bowen pulled me in immediately. Baroness Abigail came across much kinder in this book than in the Devil Duke. I enjoyed her banter with Jack Johnson aka John Jackson. This story is full of unexpected turns, it has incredible imagery, and a wonderful storyline. Virginia Ferguson performs this book with distinguishable voices for the various characters and brings them to life. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by this author and narrator.

:)

A nice continuation of the series. Book one left the duchess heart broken and I think a little lost. I was really glad she came into herself more in this book. For a adult she has a childlike wonder about her, while being loyal and jaded at the same time. She’s a complex one. I could predict somethings, but it didn’t take away anything from the story. The narration was good except for one thing, the male voices. They didn’t sound anything like I’d pictured in my head. To me they sounded slurry, almost as if ones trying to go for a drunk male voice. I’m really glad this couple found their HEA.

Great Continuation of Series

I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so couldn't wait to start the next one. I enjoyed this installment too, but I think the first one set such a high standard that I liked it quite a bit more. This book revisits some of the characters from the first book, but they essentially switch roles; those that were primary become secondary and those that were secondary become primary. And of course, new characters are added.

This book had a bit of a twist that I won’t spoil here, but it was refreshing as the Baroness was not one of my favorite people and it was nice to see her one upped a bit. Because of the way she acted in the first novel, I found myself not as emotionally tied to this story as I was to the first. I did come to like the characters a lot more by the end.

In all, it is a great addition to the series and I hope Ms. Bowen continues with additional characters and stories. I can think of a few that could certainly be included in a future book.

I was provided with a free copy of this audio book for my honest review. The views expressed here are entirely my own.

Oh yes

In the first book I wanted to smack Abigail but love how the author turned that around . The chemistry between these two is off the charts . Love that we get to hear from previous characters as well. Jack / John is a pain at first but you get to him and then he gets in your heart. It’s a must read !
I received this book for a review and that is my honest review.

So Amazingly good! Really worth your credit!

I was looking forward to reading this and it did not disappoint. I can’t even tell you how amusing this story is. I laughed or chuckled multiple times while listening. The storyline is great and the characters....they have such growth to them.

I really can’t believe the turn about for the Baroness. I was pleasantly surprised with her thoughts, attitude and sense of self. I just wish we could have seen her learning to rope, lasso and tie knots. That had to be some pretty good stuff. She is a dream character because of her ability to grow and become a better...her. She was my favorite in this book. Usually it’s the men but she was done so splendidly.

I did enjoy the coolness and the possessiveness of Jack as it caused many romping funny scenes. It was nice to meet his family as well. As they added to and caused some of these scenes. I want to give a shout out to seeing the Duke and Duchess from Book 1. I loved seeing them and all their silliness they have going on again.

OK there were funny moments as mentioned above. I listened to this on audio and Virginia Ferguson was AMAZING! When she was quacking like a duck??? I couldn’t. stop. Laughing! She nailed that! I think she got more into the story and the characters with this one. She made this book enjoyable!

Great enemies to lovers story

Fans of the first book in the series, The Devil Duke, get ready to have all your feelings changed in The Demon Duchess. Abigail, whom we couldn't stand in book one because she was in the way of Izzy & Trevor's love, will now become a character readers/listeners root for. I love when an author can change my mind on a character. Just a few minutes into this book and I was already rooting for her happiness. Abigail is heartbroken that Trevor picked Izzy. She has a one night stand with the sexy horse trainer Jack Johnson. She expects to never see him again but something unexpected happens and she is bonded to him forever. As she fights for him to love her and stop seeing her as an entitled brat, she starts to learn who she really is and what truly makes her happy. I will be honest, for most of the book I was not a Jack fan. I thought he was a jerk and Abigail deserved better. She's a bigger woman than me. I would have told him where to go with some of his words and actions. But in the end it was all worth it. I am now a Jack and Abigail fan. I loved that Trevor and Izzy had a good amount of time in this book too. I guarantee fans of this series will fall in love right away and be surprised at their changed feelings towards Abigail. I know I was!

Rousing fun story

I loved the contrast between Abby and John, and the voices and expressions of the greatly added to my listening experience. Employee, lover, antagonists, true love and friends. I loved watching it all transpire. I loved Abby's attitude to get her man at all cost. Strong female lead. I highly recommend this series.

Good Book!

I received a free copy of this Audible book at my request for an honest review. Abigail is a rich spoiled I'm better than you person. John is a rugged cowboy and when life gets to be to much he runs. Tessa Bowen does a great job with the characters, they grow, they learn and they become the people they are suppose to be. This book had me feeling all kinds of emotions! Anger, sadness, happy and little bit of well.. you got what you deserved.. This is a great book, I highly recommend it.

Hooked from the beginning

I was hooked from the beginning. This is the second book in the series. I love the story and the twist in it. It’s about the Baroness Abigail Sutton who hooks up with a horse whisperer Jack Johnson for what is supposed to be a single night of passion. We met Abigail in the first book "The Devil Duke" since she is Duke Trevor’s childhood friend and mistress. I didn’t like her much in that book but in this one she came across as a different person when I learned who she is from her perspective.

Narrator Virginia Ferguson did a great job, she is perfect for this story.

I recommend to listen/read the books in order so you can understand the backstory.
