Summary

The Xaros broke against Earth's defenses, but the war may be lost.

The alien ships of former allies rule Earth's skies, threatening to obliterate cities and turn the planet into a barren wasteland if humanity refuses their demands.

With their backs to the wall, the scattered crew of the Breitenfeld must work together to foil the enemy's plan before time runs out.

The path to freedom leads through The Crucible.

No spoilers but more twists are on their way!
Another great listen, as always!
Bit sad, the end of the saga is near but keen to see how it ends after following all the characters from the start.

love these books more each time

again still #TeamStandish this guy is a very important comic relief in this book and I love how the earth just keeps on keeping on against all adversity. poor Elias this time I miss her too buddy.
Hale dodges so many bullets it's not even funny. the amount of time the shot is just above his head or where he was standing a minute ago...

Damn I love standish

Where does The Crucible rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

its good for the series and takes a break from the big boom and gloom to set the story up for the next chapter.

A bounce-back from book 7

While book 7 was a bit predictable and seemed to hint at another multi-book war with another set of species, I was pleased to find out that this book completed that war with flair, daring and guts from the primary protagonists. There are several surprises and twists we discover as the war plays out and the strategy of using what amounted to multiple "Hail Mary" maneuvers in order to win the day was enjoyable to see how they played out without knowing the specifics ahead of time.

The preview into book 9, as with the previous novels, opens new questions that guarantee that I'll grab the next episode as soon as it's available.

Outstanding Sci-Fi Saga! Best I've listened to or read in a very long time

This series has been outstanding with each and every book leaving you wanting more. My only knock on the series is the price tag. It would be nice to have a discount for buying the entire series. With that said, it's still worth it and wasn't a roadblock to me purchasing each story. Character development has been outstanding.
If a Hollywood producer is out there and comes across this series, you could have your very own Star Wars-esque movie franchise to build on. I can see the Avatar visuals combined with Star Trek type battle scenes, but with a cast of characters more relatable than either of those two series.
I'm an audible listener as I can listen while I work. I am dying for "Xaro's Reckoning" to hit the download scene. Of course it MUST be recorded by Luke Daniels, so we shall wait in his schedule to free up enough to get this next book done. Is it the last in the series? Any spin off series in the works?

another excellent book in the Ember War Saga.

I enjoyed the plot twist in the characters. While I did enjoy this each first, I thought The Crucible was even better.
