Andy Ramage and Ruari Fairbairns started their website, One Year No Beer, to connect with like-minded people who no longer wanted to deal with the adverse effects of drinking alcohol. In The 28 Day Alcohol-Free Challenge, Andy and Ruari share their extensive experience of going alcohol free, including having a great time at parties, resisting appeals from friends to 'just have the one' and, most importantly, how to make the most of the health benefits of going sober.

Probably the most positive book about giving up booze I’ve read yet!

This book has completely changed my view of alcohol. I have gone from a bottle a night (and two a night at weekends to none - 2 weeks and counting. I haven’t set out to give it up completely, just cut down considerably, but the benefits I have experienced, spoken of in this book are just too fantastic to give up! The boys speak honestly and with total understanding to all of us “go hard or go home” drinkers. I can’t thank them enough.

Pretty average and nothing you shouldn't already

know. To me, it sounded like one long, repetitive advert for their main subscription business. if I could work out how to return it,I would.

main narration is good but then they keep injecting the coauthors voice into it for what seems like a vanity project rather than for the good of the listener. Really concerned as to why the ratings are so high for this book, as it's really not very good.

Might work for some

Performance and recording is good. Content is a little bit laddish and like an emphatically upbeat piece of lifestyle content marketing. I can see how this would appeal to others but it’s just not for me.

Fabulous book that will resonate with so many

I downloaded this book after listening to a podcast with Dr Chattergee and Andy Ramage and the description of ‘middle lane drinkers’ resonated immediately. I have never thought about what I was doing to myself with this social habit that I’ve grown up with And I’ve never even considered stopping for any period of time. Today I’m 60 days alcohol free and listening to this book has been one the biggest motivators. There’s loads more support you can tap into outside of the book but so far I’ve not needed it. I feel great and have loads of tools to support me if I have a blip, or find myself in a situation where I might find it difficult to decline the offer of a drink . Great book and would recommend to anyone who enjoys a regular drink, loves opening a bottle of wine or grabbing a beer to relax after work, celebrate, commiserate etc I feel like I’m at the start of a really healthy change to my lifestyle. Thanks to this book!

A really good, easy to follow guide.

Loads of encouragement, hacks and advice to remain AF for 28 days. It has inspired me to extend my challenge to 90 days and, who knows, maybe further still!

So, so....

There were some good motivational tips but many that became repetitive.

The majority of the book is based on common sense & your own will power. If you are a drinker, you will spot many of the messages & feelings following on from drinking to excess but if you are an occasional drinker who has it under control where it doesn't affect your life, then this book won't be for you.
