Summary

Terra Nova, Book 1

Terra Nova. The promised world is humanity’s new home, safe from the threats of a dangerous galaxy, where veterans of a long war could live in peace. The promise was a lie.

Chief Katherine “Kit” Carson, of the elite Pathfinder Corps, joins the mission as a last-minute replacement, hoping to put a spotty past behind her and build a new life on a brave new world. The expedition arrives on Terra Nova, expecting to join the first wave of colonists, instead they find abandoned cities and are soon faced with a new, terrifying enemy humanity has never encountered before.

For the colony to survive, Carson must unravel the mystery of her new home and learn the fate of the first mission to settle the planet....

Bloodlines, Book 2

Terra Nova broke free of the Ultari tyrants, but the colony’s struggle to survive has just begun.

Governor Ken Hale and his expedition brought technology to the Canis Major galaxy that will change the balance of power forever, and the Ultari will stop at nothing to take it for themselves. The colony needs allies, and with no other options, Hale sends Chief Kit Carson on a first contact mission that will either shield their vulnerable world or invite its swift destruction.

Bit of a Mixture

Listening to this has been a mixture of both good and bad.

I found the hysterical voice of Nooness was, to say the least, really irritating.

Chief Katherine (Kit) Carson's voice did not sound female at all, far too masculine and I had to keep stopping to think for a moment who was who.

Governor Hale seems to be very volatile and not the type of person, I would believe, could be put in charge of a mission like this. His lack of control and outbursts are not what is expected of a Govenor.

However, the storyline I did like. That said, I doubt I will follow on with this series as the helium voice of Luke Daniels is a little too over the top for me.

Slow start

not having read the ember war series I was a bit of a loss to start with and nearly returned the book but after sticking with it, it soon picks up. I'm going to go back and read the previous books and would recommend anyone else do the same

Another Hit!

This book takes some great characters from the Ember War series and takes them to an entirely new galaxy. Feels just enough like the Ember War books to keep it tied together with them but just different enough to make you fall in love with this entirely new world Richard and Josh have created. I can not wait for the next book in the series!

Another great story in the Ember Wars Universe

Another great story in the Ember Wars Universe with familiar characters taking a supporting roll and the focus shifting to a new cast with familiar rolls. Good suspense and great description of the battles in both space and on the ground in the hand to hand nature.

Painful

I love the other series by Richard Fox.
This one started out well and then digressed into a bad version of Space Balls. The Prime characters were the three stooges, a confusing story line, and unrealistic scenarios. There was what seemed like entire chapters of extremely long, meaningless, painful, and simplistic dialogue. Wish I could get a refund on my credit. It was PAINFUL to finish.

Cliche

Meh... the predictably and cliche. Too many cheesy one liners. It was still and okay listen.

This is not up to Richard Fox's standard

Clearly Richard Fox sold the rights to use his world to Mr Hayes and he should never do it again.

Bad sci-fi writing and a poor audible performance

I’m a pretty big sci-fi nerd and a professional engineer so I’m hopeless. I love most sci-fi fiction but this book’s scenarios are off-putting. I was immediately put off by a character ‘s slingshot maneuver in space when the time alllowed for a ship to dock, drop off the person and easily leave. The writer has some interesting ideas but the characters are not interesting. I will continue to grind through until the end but it is not enjoyable. Unfortunately, Luke Daniels (who is a great performer) is required to give too many male characters in scenes and the characters are too similar so you’re left wondering who is talking. I know Mr. Daniels is good but voices/ accents were not enough to differentiate.

Amazing!

I hope this turns into another series like Ember Wars- loving the story so far. Also, Luke Daniels really brings it to life- especially with the effects (accents, crying, whining, begging, interference, etc) it’s fantastic.
