Hundreds have ventured into the depths, supposedly seeking sanctuary. Only one has escaped. Will and his friends find evidence of scores of others—clothing left in pristine arrangements with no corpses to be seen. Terrors howl up from the abyss at every turn, and only the occasional survivor, torn by trauma and the incessant dark, hints at the horrors still awaiting in the deep.
Will is committed now; the anomalies pose a threat to Earth far beyond the ascension's magical mayhem.
