Sunday Times Memoir of the Year 2023

It was one of the images of the twentieth century: two boys, walking behind the coffin of their mother, Princess Diana. Billions wondered what the princes must be feeling - and how their lives would play out from that point on.

For Harry, this is that story at last.

Before then, Prince Harry was known as the happy-go-lucky Spare to the more serious Heir. But grief changed everything.

At twenty-one, he joined the Army but was soon more lost than ever, suffering from post-traumatic stress and crippling panic attacks. Above all, he couldn't find true love.

Then he met Meghan. The world was swept away by the couple's romance and wedding. But in the face of sustained press intrusion, Harry saw no other way to protect his wife and children than to flee his mother country. Over the centuries, leaving the Royal Family was an act few had dared. The last to try had been his mother. . .

Written with raw, unflinching honesty, Spare is full of insight, revelation and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief.

From the first word, it was honest, raw and relatable. The hurt Harry feels is palpable, the excitement he felt having fallen in love was deeply touching, and to have her not accepted after everything cut deep as a betrayal. A much needed correction of the tabloid narrative that tried to ruin him, but that he has had the strength to stand up to. Congrats Harry, may you continue to find peace.

Honest and relatable insight into Harry's life.

The Royal family system is cruel. I hope they do better for the current royal children George, Charlotte and Louis. They shouldn't be forced to have royal roles.

Well done for telling your own story

Raw and honest look at his life. Great listen as he has an incredible voice for narration. Highly recommended.
Ignore media critics. The UK press is one of the biggest targets in the book so of course they are not going to like it.

Here is an autobiography which is spoken with such professional voice and genuine emotion. There is nothing bitter here, only the truth told by a man who’s been through terrible experiences and who’s now the target of his white, racist family who are fearfully envious of his attempt at happiness. Yes, Harry, you have won my heart and WHATEVER your Windsor lot say about you and your family, please know that they are speaking out of envy, anger and revenge - NONE of which are valid. Their karma will surely catch up with them and they shall have none of our sympathy. The Windsors who used your beautifully talented Mummy for their need for an heir and a spare are greedy, rich and unfeeling. They will come to a bad end. Meanwhile I send you and Meghan my blessings for a life full of love and fulfilment. And if the Establishment is working against your ability to earn your own living know that you deserve your living - much more than their generations of loot.

Harry, an AMAZING prince who is so talented - but the world is SO MALICIOUSLY PREJUDICED against him.

A honest, sad but necessary, no holds barred view of Harry’s perspective of the way the world has impacted his life.

A fascinating insight into Harry’s life!
