About this listen
I've already mentally prepared myself to kill the screaming, murderous monster in the cage outside our camp.
I'm used to it. It's what I do here. Kill monsters and other people.
This monster, Seraph, is particularly unstable—has been since the moment he arrived from Collector Mary's monster menagerie to the west, where the military stashed him away. He's in pain. I can see it. But he's not a mindless beast. Not like some of the others think.
When I start guarding him in his cage every night, I begin to see the person beneath the agony that tortures his every waking moment. I begin to see who Seraph could have been if he hadn't been twisted into this monstrous creature.
I realize that I wouldn't be able to bring myself to kill him, even for his own sake, but it doesn't matter anyway. He's already dying, and there's nothing I can do to stop it. Not even when new visitors at our raider camp bring with them secrets about Seraph. Secrets the military has tried to hide. Secrets that reveal the true extent of the horror he's been put through.
And now… Now, I will kill anyone who tries to hurt him again.
Seraph is book six of the Monstrous series, a post-apocalyptic m/m fantasy series that features monsters and human men falling in love. It is best to listen to the series in order. Intended for mature listeners.

Sadly, although I've loved the entire series so far & I've loved every main character, I really could not stand Lilac.
I'd really liked him in his previous appearances, as he seemed like he was intuitive, intelligent & level-headed... unfortunately, he's none of those things in his story!
He's unecessarily arrogant, conceited, sarcastic, sardonic, flippant, condescending, extremely hypocritical & beyond ungrateful!
Although I've enjoyed all of Michael Lesley's choice of voices for all the character's, I can't say that I liked Lilac's one... his bored, monotonous, Valley girl accents was grating & compounded my dislike for Lilac's character.
Having said that, his Seraph voice is right on the money... he was able to make such a raspy, unnatural voice sound adorable & there was a little squeak when Lilac compliments him & it was such a short, little sound, but it conveyed so much emotion... my heart 💔
The only time that I liked Lilac were his moments with Seraph... his love for Seraph was truly genuine & that was his only saving grace, IMO!
The fact that Lilac consistently & purposely kept pertinent info from the rest of the camp, such as the diet, Seraph's progress & release, but when his decisions caused issues, naturally... he'd never recognise his own fault in it, but was always quick to blame other's.
Wyn saves him & his 1st thought is, "what, are they expecting me to thank him"?!? what a graceless & ungrateful sod.
He's always thinking that he doesn't care about anyone else's issues, problems, feelings, etc... but the world must stop when it comes to his own!
His selfish motivations prolonged Seraph's incarceration, because he refused to let anyone see how much Seraph had improved, but it was everyone else's fault that they didn't know it... 😡🤬😡
All the beasties are not only trying to help Seraph, but they treat him with respect & look after him... yet, Lilac thinks he's the only one who cares. They'd be none the wiser had it not been for the Beasties knowledge... but is Lilac able to recognise that?!? Nope 🙄
For me, it's a shame that this was the last book in the "original" series, as I wanted the series to end with a bang & yet another wonderful couple. TBF, Seraph & Lilac DO make a wonderful couple, but I couldn't overcome how irritating & irrational I found Lilac to be when he was interacting with anyone else, so it was more of a bittersweet experience for me.
I loved the story, but not one of the .sin characters.
Wyn, as usual stole the show with all his dry humour, zero F***s attitude & his monster daddy vibes (it was so sweet) 🤗
I wish we'd gotten more Edin, but I nearly she'd a tear when all the couples, minus one, all came together 🥹
Now, I've gotta find a copy of the Monster Christmas camp story (which hopefully doesn't feature Lilac too heavily, but loads of Seraph)... as I need to see how cute all my favourite Beasties & their Beasties' Hubbies of the Waste are doing & how their friendships have progressed 😍🤗
Seraph 😍 Lilac 😬

While Soul Eater and Lor are my favourite books in the series this is 3rd for me and that’s just down to Seraph being so utterly adorable 🥰
🎧 as with the rest of series - Audio is good but in serious need of editing. So many mistakes and bloopers left in 😬 there’s multiple in all of the books and some
Are really bad lol.
Seraph is the cutest 🥹 4.5 ⭐

Michael Lesley's narration continues to be nothing short of spectacular. Every character in this ever-growing behemoth cast has a unique voice, and I never question who is speaking.
I always say my favorite book in this series is whichever one I read most recently, so right now that crown goes to Seraph!
Lilac and Seraph together as a pairing works so freaking well, I can't get over it. The way Lilac is always focused on ensuring Seraph feels accepted for who he is as a person, and not as a "thing", is so wholesome from our resident machete-wielding bae. That same respect is then given by Seraph back to Lilac in the form of the best possessiveness and protectiveness. This is something Lilac has been missing since the deaths of both of his parents left him as an orphan in one of the human cities during his childhood.
Compared to Moth, this book focuses more on character arcs & development, versus a lot of overarching plot. But there is still a decent amount of interaction and cameos by some of our other favorite pairings.
Spectacular
