About this listen

Innocent people are dying. Who will be next? Find out in the second Detective Mark ‘Heck’ Heckenburg from #1 ebook bestseller Paul Finch.

A vicious serial killer is holding the country to ransom, publicly – and gruesomely – murdering his victims.

When a man is burnt alive on a bonfire, it seems like a tragic Guy Fawkes Night accident. But with the discovery of a young couple on Valentine’s Day – each with an arrow through the heart – something more sinister becomes clear. A ‘calendar killer’ is on the loose.

Detective Mark ‘Heck’ Heckenburg is up against it. With a rising body count and the public’s eyes on him, Heck must find the killer before he executes more victims.

Because this killer has a plan. And nothing will stop him completing it.

A heart-stopping and grisly thriller that will enthral fans of Stuart MacBride and Katia Lief.

“A deliciously twisted and fiendish set of murders and a great pairing of detectives.” STAV SHEREZ

“Avon’s big star…part edge-of-the-seat, part hide-behind-the-sofa! An excellent series.” THE BOOKSELLER

Once again Heck is knee deep in bodies and the very worst kind of criminal deviants. A simmering love interest taunts the reader. Paul Thornley brings this tale to life in his inimitable style making it a can't put down tale. My immediate instinct was to load the next in the series but that would be wrong like fine wine this stuff is to be cherished and reserved for when you have time to enjoy it.

A fast moving tale of murder and control

The first 2 books by Paul Finch are brilliant .. in this book Heck again is involved in the search for a serial killer who is planning a particular type of murder ... one that is depraved beyond belief.

I found myself taking deep breaths when Paul Finch described the murder scenes .. his writing is excellent. The narration is pure genius .. he is Heck!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good murder, police procedural investigation. i have already bought the next book in the series .. I've hardly spoken to anybody for the last week and I'm afraid that will carry on with the next book lol

Another great read by Paul Finch

I love his accent!

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No it's not one of those books. It's the audio equivalent of 'unputdownable'!

Any additional comments?

I love the good characters and the evilness of the bad characters is really interesting. Very good entertainment!
