About this listen
Strong plot and superb period detail combine to make Rob Roy a captivating tale and an extraordinary portrait of the haunted highlands and the glorious Scottish past.
(P)1995 Blackstone Audio Inc.Critic reviews
"When I think of Rob Roy, I am impatient with all other novels." (Robert Louis Stevenson)
"This early 19th-century classic...is alive and well in this production, elegant in sound and style. Frederick Davidson's voice masterfully moves from brogue to dialect, from Gaelic to English. He succeeds at the resonance of narrator Francis, the commanding voice of Rob Roy, the growl of the wicked Rashleigh, and the beautiful lilt of Diana Vernon. This recording, accordingly, 'thrills the blood.'" ( AudioFile)

When he sticks to basic mildly accented English-Scots he only sounds pompous and affected, but when he tries to depict someone with a FULL Scottish accent, he is so out of his depth, he cannot see the shore!
When someone who TRIES to ‘put on’ a Scottish accent, when not gifted with at least a good ear (and, I suspect, surrounded by editorial staff who have never heard a Scots accent in their life!), ‘gives it a go’, you get THIS - utter unintelligible garbled GARBAGE 😱
(p.s. I AM Scottish, and have had to go into THERAPY after suffering only one hour of this HORROR 😱🏴
AVOID AT ALL COSTS, If you have a good ear for a Scots Accent 😱
