Summary

A zombie on the run. The curse has been hijacked. Time for patient zero to step up.

The human race has become an endangered species in the two weeks since the bomb fell in Seattle. Luckily for Digby, that’s not his problem. Skyline believes that he and his coven were burnt to cinders, so all he needs to do is lay low. Well, that was what he hoped would happen.

Instead, Henwick’s plan to hijack the curse was successful, spreading a new kind of monster across the land. They’re faster, stronger, and more lethal than the dead that came before. With these creatures on the prowl, it doesn’t take long before the apocalypse once again comes knocking at Digby’s door.

His plan to laze around is foiled, so Digby grudgingly sets out in search of a new home. With new allies and adversaries to keep an eye on, his coven will have to uncover the secrets behind Henwick’s plans.

Is creating a safe haven enough, or will Digby be forced to go to war?

I loved this book but there was a bit that did get annoyed with and that was with the fact he is an English man but instead of saying my trousers like an English man he says pants like an American 😩

Zombies are not the only thing in the night

Lord Digby Graves has escaped the disaster at Seattle with his two apprentices. His plan is simple, find an amazing place to claim and lay low while they level up. The problem with this plan is that Skyline has modified the curse. When someone is turned, they turn into a revenant instead of a zombie. This means that there are a lot more hostiles now. On the plus side though, they are edible!

I was skeptical at first as I am not much of a zombie fan. I loved David Petrie’s other series, so I gave it a try. I am so happy that I did. This is such a fun series! Book 3 can not come soon enough! Fair warning: this series has significantly more language than Pixel Dust.

Great Sequel

Great follow-up on this series. Continues to world build as well as develop both heroes and villains. New magic, monsters, and allies for Digby’s troupe. The narrator does an amazing job. Fun post-apocalyptic LitRPG.

Spoiler Alert: Also, there’s a talking skeleton and he’s hilarious!

Infinitely Amusing

Digby and the banter amongst his friends is believable, witty, playful and snide all at the same time. The VA performance is nothing short of impeccable. Can barely wait for the next book.

Good story, great performance.

David Petrie maintains his momentum in a litrpg that manages to be innovative, fun, and unpredictable throughout. The pacing is ideal, and allows the reader to fully immerse themselves in the various systems which underpin the drama without overloading the word count on endless descriptions of screens and user interfaces. The characters are rich, distinct, and, with particular emphasis on the main three, easy to believe.

Also, Travis Baldree is a voice wizard, and every one if his performances elevate the story. Listen to everything he performs. Maybe twice.
