Summary
Welcome to Junebug Farms, a successful, well-known animal shelter in upstate New York, where every day brings something new - love, stress, heartbreak, warmth - and not just from the animals. Lisa Drakemore is in charge of intake and adoption at Junebug. She excels at her job, in large part because of her ability to keep her emotions in check. Her past has given her many years of practice and she's become a pro. But once she meets dog-walking volunteer Ashley Stiles, a distractingly attractive, perpetually late, emotions-on-her-sleeve young woman who smells like cupcakes, all bets are off for Lisa. The first of the Puppy Love Romances by award-winning author Georgia Beers.

Cute Romance
If you could sum up Rescued Heart in three words, what would they be?
Sweet, innocent, positive.
What other book might you compare Rescued Heart to and why?
Difficult to answer.
I guess something like Apples Should be Red by Penny Watson...or maybe Must Love Otters by Eliza Gordon.
What about Abby Craden’s performance did you like?
The best narrators disappear into the story. I don't think she's that good but it was a competent performance and importantly not annoying.
Any additional comments?
In a perfect world I wouldn't have to say this but sadly our world isn't perfect.
This book is LGBT...yes it's a lesbian romance....it's also sweet, generous and indefatigably positive.
I don't think it matters if you're not a lesbian. I'm heterosexual and male and I loved this book. A great story moves beyond definitions.

Classic Georgia
A nice Georgia Beers lesbian romance with one woman who is in a power position and is so emotionally cut off she's way more like a guy than a lot of guys you know. Lisa Drakemore, like Rachel Hart in 'Mine' is scarred by the divorce of her parents when she was a teenager and as a result has little or no contact with one of her parents. She has inherited a no kill shelter from her grandmother and despite most of her staff being volunteers she runs a tight ship. One of those volunteers is the very pretty Ashley Stiles who works in a bake shop and comes across as one of those people who find their niche early and stay right there. Then there is the mutual attraction that both women constantly try to minimize if not deny altogether, a staple of most of this author's works. Clark Breckenridge is the stereotypical sleazy rich contributor with an overblown sense of entitlement and at one point his overtures go way over the line provoking a confrontation with Lisa; who for a moment comes off as heroic; then blows it when she opens her mouth..
Lisa is in fact a difficult character to ever get behind; she comes off as totally self centered, self involved, and carrying a large of bucket of anger mixed with an unwillingness to forgive or even listen to an explanation. In short if you walk on two legs, she's not very nice to you. Ashley on the other hand is terribly sweet, accommodating, and has a willingness to help everyone. If there is a line between nice lady and pushover Ashley doesn't step across that line; she backs up gets a running start and leaps across it. Finally it wasn't a surprise to see more than one Junebug Farms book because there were about twenty characters introduced in this book so there had to be some reason for that.
The positive thing about the author's works is that despite creating lead characters that aren't all that likable, and some strange takes on who to blame and who to excuse she is a very good writer. Though you wonder why the hell Ashley would want to hook up with Lisa, you really want it to happen. Listening to this story on my I-Pod was a nice way to distract myself from all the yard I was doing one weekend. Good escapist listening; it was fun.

Editors: Please pay attention
If you could sum up Rescued Heart in three words, what would they be?
Cute and perfect for animal lovers
What other book might you compare Rescued Heart to and why?
George Beers seems to love dogs, specially Australian Sheppards. Can't blame her at all. :)
Mine was great too
What three words best describe Abby Craden’s voice?
WOW, Wow and wow :)
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Puppy love is catchy enough
Any additional comments?
I’m not through listening this book yet but I chose it because these are 2 of my favorites: Author Georgia Beers and Narrator Abby Craden but please audio editors: Can you review this book? End of track 6, narrator says: "I seen to be missing page 56…
Just hope this doesn’t happen often "through the book…

Ended at the wrong time
This was a good book but ended too soon. I feel there should have been another chapter or epilogue.
I would have given 5 stars if it actually had an ending.
Wasn’t crazy about the voices that the narrator used. Too flat and made Lisa sound like an old man or someone just getting past a chest cold and cough.

This was a heart warming story of the power of love to heal deep scars. A tale of how strength and confidence can be imparted to those you love even though those traits are not in your comfort zone. Meh
The book is boring. It takes forever for anything to happen and the writer has too many comfort words that she repeats endlessly
