Summary

This year will either make me or break me.…

My professors worry that I'm sliding down a slippery slope, but I know I'm still on the path of redemption. I've worked too hard for too long, and I have no intention of letting down my family. When Bryn disappears during a routine field trip, though, I must put my need to succeed on hold. After all, what good is being the best if I can't use my powers to help those closest to me? The more facts I uncover, the more I realize that her disappearance is part of a much larger scheme - one that threatens our very existence.

Can I stop a diabolical plan in motion, or will I suffer the same fate as those I'm striving to save?

Good story, but lots of annoyances.

The story itself was good and id have usually been really into this kind of thing. However the main character is so unlikeable that it actually starts to make you not enjoy the book. There was no character growth throughout the whole six books, she reffered to herself by her full name so often it became almost comical.
also as others have said*, there was too much "he said, she said, i said"
(*see what i did there? lol)
such a shame as the narrator is great, she was just given a difficult job.
Im not going to carry on with the series, so thats it for Princess and her entourage, for me.

Not terrible

I almost didn’t listen to the third book due to the authors over use of the word “said”, but since I finished the first 2 I figured I better follow through with Danni’s story. While I found the storyline intriguing, I’m very disappointed with character growth. Danni received a premonition of sorts that told her of a coming failure. I was excited by this. Danni is over confident and cocky which is ok if the character can grow and become a more humble person. In other words, become more relatable. This is not the case with Danni. She remains arrogant throughout the entire series. One of my biggest pet peeves with this particular story, is that although she received the premonition of failure, it never came to be. It would have been nice to see her fall and realize that it’s ok to let others shine and that you can’t be perfect all the time. That although she is powerful and amazing in her own rights, there are others just as amazing as she is. So overall, character development is severely lacking. I would have also liked to see more from her relationship with Peter.

This one is a real nail biter!!!

Things are getting a little dicey with Dani's magic. It seems to be getting away from her. Just when she starts getting afraid for herself she is thrown in to a new adventure but this one is for life and death. Hers and Bryns. The stakes are higher than ever before and this time she does not have Peter by her side. This one is a real nail biter!

repetitive words

I can't stand these books that constantly have "he said" "I said" "she said" after every statement. so unnecessary & it's all I ever hear when I'm trying to listen to the story.

Same voice

The story line was not bad at all but I which there was a male read the male part of it. Also I wish she could have changed her voice. I didn’t like all the characters sound the same.

I want more!

No matter how mundane I found the narrator, I still enjoyed the storyline. With the odd mix if characters the trio of books had me since word one. I enjoyed the chivalrous slow progression of Dani and Peter’s relationship. Maybe the stories can continue after graduation and go more into what makes each character who they are. But with a much better narrator.

Wish we had more light paranormal romance like this.

At first I thought I had missed a book but as I continue I was sucked in. The adventures were different in all 3 books so far. The romance was PG with still keeping my interest. What I would call a light one day read.
Super natural or paranormal book. It had many references to god as well as magic and other super natural being. Would listen again.

Ok story could’ve been better

Narrator did very well, however I felt the characters were not developed very well the main characters had no real challenges or failures through three books romantic relationships were too perfect no challenges or struggles to really work through.

The story seemed to be lacking a protagonist to rival the main characters everyone and everything the characters faced presented no real challenge to work through the story started out good but never really developed like it could have. The few magical battles lacked any kind of suspense everything worked out perfectly and was gift wrapped in a nice neat little bow. The story had lots of potential only to fizzle out.

Outbreak bk 3

I read this series in the wrong order but it was still interesting. IMO I prefered "Sentry of the South" series more than "Spellslingers Academy of Magic" but it's just my preference. They are both fantastically written and full of action, murder and paranormal mystery. The one thing that really gets under my skin is - none of the books provide a Heroines name in their description so it's hard to remember who you're writing about. In this series the heroines' name is Dani -

Dani is living in her beloved grandmothers shadow at Spellslingers Academy of Magic and working extremely hard to not only become the Sentry of the South but create a new legacy for her and her family. Her much loved grandmother's addiction to magic tarnished the family name. (While I understand the thought behind this, I struggle with the depravity written into the story her grandmother did. IMO her parents were far worse people)

In this final story, Dani has gone a little OCD, Everyone is trying to tell her that she doesn't need to be perfect but it doesn't sink in - but no one other than Bryn has baggage like Dani in her past. When Bryn - one of the strongest sorcerers she's knows disappears during a field trip Dani won't leave things alone. She knows Bryn would never just disappear, especially since Bryn and Gray are so happy -

Dani works with her friends to find out more about the disappearances of paranormal entities and find her BFF Bryn.
