Summary

Nine people are assigned to Falcon Bravo, a decommissioned oil rig 250 miles out in the North Sea, to undertake routine maintenance. Eight men and one woman, until the mystery on the sub-level makes itself known. Salvation comes in the form of an unsuspecting crew member who provides the creature with its first proper meal - himself.

When caught in the act of feeding on a crew member Euterich knows the game is up and it is only a matter of time before he is hunted down and killed. Now the demonic shapeshifter has only one desperate objective in mind, to perpetuate his kind while he still can. He needs to get the body count down to one man and one woman, but is that one man human? Offshore, it is isolation, thrilling and visceral tension, and a place where no escape is possible.

Offshore

After reading up on this book I thought this sound so different, so checking the good reviews it had I thought why not so glad I did, This book reminded me of The Thing and Alien so similar in many ways. When the group of workers are assigned to the oil rig in the middle of the sea to do some routine maintenance work little do they know they are not alone, I really felt for the characters trapped in the middle of the sea fighting for their lives, its a gripping and disturbing story from start to finish.

Not one for listening to on your own in the dark

If you could sum up Offshore in three words, what would they be?

Compelling and scary

What other book might you compare Offshore to, and why?

I've not "read" anything else like this before, so I have no comparisons to make. It was recommended to me and I took a chance on it. It turned out to be well worth it.

Have you listened to any of Gregory Peyton’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I've not come across the narrator before, but I thought he was excellent

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Don't eat the pie.

Any additional comments?

A nicely conceived bit of horror.
