Love that this is set in Australia and that it uses the native lingo. There are times who characters get information to easily. This story is easy to listen to while doing things around the house and enjoyed the friend ship between characters.

A wonderful first in series with a well-plotted mystery in a charming small town setting. Ruth and Doris are clever and lots of fun, and the mystery is a tantalizing puzzle. Natalie Beran nailed the narration, I loved her Australian accent, very fitting.

This is the first book I have read or listened to by this author but it won't be my last, in fact I have already downloaded the next audio book.
I loved the characters. The author has created a delightful team in Ruth and Doris, where age and youth work well together and have formed a special friendship. They both have skills or knowledge that they use to solve a number of mysteries and not just the murder. I even liked that Ruth's father, who is a nursing home got in on solving the case. The setting of Australia is a nice change and while not obvious there are a few moments to remind you and it had that cozy small town feel to it as well.

The mystery was interesting with a lot going on a murder, a cold case, threatening letters and mystery lovers. All get nicely wrapped up. There was also plenty of suspects to keep me guessing and I had no idea who the killer was or even why. Off to start the next book.

With Doris's habit of getting lost, Ruth won't let her elderly neighbour out of her sight as there visit the local antique and collectibles market. So When they finally make it to the Tupperware store it's to find a body. As Doris rushes off to get help, Ruth tries to help her old tennis coach, only to have him utter his finale words 'it wasn't me' before dying. Ruth always liked her old teacher but she seems to be in the minority and with a better understanding of the people around the market on that fatal day, she starts her own investigation. Joined by her sidekick Doris and the local gardener, between them they know everybody on the suspect list but can they piece together the mean, motive and opportunity behind the death, especially with so many suspects holding on to secrets.
I liked the narrator. She did some good accents that helped transport you right to the mystery along side the characters.
I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
