The story of Mary Burnett is one of folly and comeuppance for it in the context of Scotland’s tradition of fairy tales (where fairies are capricious and spiteful, not Disney Tinkerbells. The reader does well and the Scots dialogue is generally well pronounced, but the reader is evidently not an actor, so sometimes the reading is a little stilted. Nonetheless it’s a chilling story well worth a listen. It’s all too rare finding older Scots literature on Audible.
