Summary

The sequel to the viral TikTok sensation Stone Maidens

From Lloyd Devereux Richards comes the next pulse-pounding thriller in which FBI agent Christine Prusik races to track down a serial killer who leaves a peculiar mark on his victims.

Forensic anthropologist Christine Prusik has a knack for solving the most unusual cases – and for bending the rules in the process.

When the bodies of young women start appearing in the caves of Indiana and Illinois, Christine immediately jumps into action. But her Chicago field office is undergoing a reorganization, and the boys’ club at the top seem more interested in getting all the paperwork in order than solving the murders.

Christine isn’t going to let a little red tape stop her, and when she discovers that all the bodies contain the same mysterious pin-sized bruise on the back of their necks, she realizes she’ll have to confront her own inner demons to find the killer.

Great 2nd book! Good characters and storyline

Following on the original book, I must say I thoroughly enjoyed this one too! Not sure if more are written or planned to be written, but I do like the main character as well as how I feel like I got to know every single participant in the story.
It describes intelligent crimes, where it wasn't obvious what was happening. In some parts, I was puzzled and eager to keep listening to find out what happened. Great author - I am so glad I found him on TT.

Great Sequel

I enjoyed trying to figure out who Trip was and up until it was spelt out, I was still guessing. Another great story from a new author, keep them coming.

Great sequel - long may they continue.

I read Lloyd's first book as a direct result of the TikTok and social media hype to see what the fuss was about, and I'm so glad I did. It was a great book and I was immediately invested.
In this book, the sequel, the writing is descriptive and well researched. The topics are current and relevant. I loved the main character and her complexities, and I loved the introduction of frustrating bureaucracy (which we have all encountered in our lives). The crime is clever and you think you have it then there's a twist. I listened to this on audible for driving and I found myself listening to it when I was at home - the audio equivalent of a page-turner.
I love that Lloyd wrote a second book and I'm really hoping for a third. There are still so many possibilities for character growth and development, and there will always be forensic crimes for the FBI to investigate.
Great book with a great storyline, and great characters. I'm delighted this author is being recognised and his labour of love is being appreciated. I really really hope he continues.
