Modern-day Miss Marple

This is an easygoing tale incorporating village life, family complications and a whodunnit; a bit of a modern-day Miss Marple but somehow not so believable.

I found it a hard to buy into Julia’s character, especially her being far more astute than the detective. Had it been a longer book I’d probably have given up on it but since I did actually finish I gave the story 3* rather than 2*

Jilly Bond’s narration was excellent, as always.

Light

This was ok. Lighter than I expected but good pace and interesting storyline and characters. Not sure I was really interested in the rescued girl story. It was a bit dull.

There were several candidates for the murder. The tone did change near the end as if written by someone else. But it was a good listen.

The only thing was the narrator's voice for narration and heroine - like a 6 year old - too childish.

A cosy crime book that dissapoints

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The dislocated plot needs work

Has Lemonade and Lies put you off other books in this genre?

Yes

Would you be willing to try another one of Jilly Bond’s performances?

Jill Bond has been good in the past - so I might, but a couple of the characters voices were so silly/distractin that I would think twice about it

Could you see Lemonade and Lies being made into a movie or a TV series? Who would the stars be?

No

Any additional comments?

It could have been interesting, but reading and dislocated plot makes it difficult to recommend

Dreadful

Without explanation, the audio disappeared. I only have chapter 1 on audio and the 'help' function for audio is useless. Disgusting, a waste of money. Don't buy.
