Eat less, lose more: a mantra few of us would disagree with and one we’ve heard countless times in official health advice. And yet doctors treating diabetes and obesity are experiencing extraordinary results among patients by taking a different approach - not by counting calories, but by eating a low-carb, high-fat diet. Setting out the case for this ‘ketogenic’ approach to eating, Gary Taubes analyses the bad science behind the nutritional dogma that has brought us to a diabetes and obesity crisis.

Your lifelong health is largely determined by what goes on inside your body at the microscopic level. Every meal you eat, beverage you drink and moment of exertion or rest impacts your internal machinery. Autophagy translates from Greek to “self-eating”. This natural biological process in the human body occurs on the cellular level and allows for the proper recycling of cellular waste material. With the right intake of food, regular exercise and an occasional break from both, your body begins to experience autophagy.

Dish up the red meat, eggs, and whole milk! In this well-researched and captivating narrative, veteran food writer Nina Teicholz proves how everything we've been told about fat is wrong. For decades, Americans have cut back on red meat and dairy products full of "bad" saturated fats. We obediently complied with nutritional guidelines to eat "heart healthy" fats found in olive oil, fish, and nuts, and followed a Mediterranean diet heavy on fruits, vegetables, and grains. Yet the nation's health has declined. What is going on?

Story
Among Americans, diabetes is more prevalent today than ever. Obesity is at epidemic proportions; nearly 10% of children are thought to have nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. And sugar is at the root of these, and other, critical, society-wide, health-related problems. With his signature command of both science and straight talk, Gary Taubes delves into Americans' history with sugar: its uses as a preservative, as an additive in cigarettes, the contemporary overuse of high-fructose corn syrup.

Packed full of useful information
This audio book is packed full of useful information. Written by someone who knows what it's like to struggle with a weight problem. If you're wanting to start out on a ketosis diet, this is a must listen. All the information you'll need and all the science to back it up is included.
Hopefully the audio editor didn't get paid as there are a number of glitches and dead air in the audio track that need sorting out. And if the author is reading this, please, lose the bells....

Repetitive
What disappointed you about Keto Clarity?
The narration was annoying. The content was repetitive.
Would you ever listen to anything by Eric C. Westman, MD and Jimmy Moore again?
Not sure
Who might you have cast as narrator instead of Jimmy Moore?
Someone with performance skills
You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Yes, it was educational... but the layout was all over the place, and repetitive
Any additional comments?
Keep it simple, it was verging on the ridiculous with the repetitiveness.

A very thorough audio book!
I've tried these principles low carb high fat and they truly work. I have lost about an inch around my waist in a couple weeks.
I'm quite active though not a sedentary person.
Also you feel satisfied and full.
I highly recommend this book and way of eating as it has a lot if scientific research to back its claims.
If you have been struggling to loose weight in the past or suffer from insulin sensitivity/resistance, diabetes underactive thyroid or any other hormonal problems you must give this way of eating a go and have a listen to this book as it Could potentially change your life.

Love the book, hated the narration
The information in this book is valuable and I enjoyed the content; however, the narration was insufferable to me. The narrator's tone, inflection and cadence was inconsistent and annoying. He struggled with pronunciation and sometimes made statements sound like questions due to his tone. Also, the 'Clarity' moments and the bell sounds were distracting and didn't flow well.
Overall, I highly recommend the book - just not the audiobook. Do yourself a favor and buy the paper copy of this book

Lose Weight/Get Healthy
If you could sum up Keto Clarity in three words, what would they be?
A must read!
What other book might you compare Keto Clarity to and why?
Cholesterol Clarity - Written by the same author. Great information about the lie we've been fed for the past 60 years.
Which character – as performed by Jimmy Moore – was your favorite?
N/A
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, too much information to take in. You need time to take it all in.
Any additional comments?
My only issue with this book is the audio is too slow. I actually listened to it at 1.5 and it was much more enjoyable. Also, I also love the fact that the author review the chapters key concepts at the end of each chapter.

A good source of info on Low Carb, High Fat living
First, I agree with everyone who commented on the "dings" for "moment of clarity moments" they are completely annoying. Hence I give the performance rating a low score. But please don't let this discourage you from reading this book. The two books I'd read on a similar topic were excellent and I wanted to learn more. It turned out that the author of this book quoted the other authors in several places, so I knew I was on the right track to learn more about the benefits of maintaining my low carb lifestyle. But I learned so much more.
Yes, it is written from the author's point of view. So what? It doesn't pretend to be anything else. But the author also explains why an individual's experience with something can be useful in this case. He also sites where scientific research is and hasn't yet been done. And, he is quick to make sure that his readers learn from what he has experienced and decide for themselves.
I enjoyed this book, "dings" and all, and I'd gladly recommend it to friends and family.

A life changing book for me...maybe for you too!
Unlike another reviewer, I found Jimmy's narration to be just fine. There are a lot of "bells" signalling a quote from another person, but I didn't mind those at all. The quotes really add a lot of content to the book.
I have embraced low carb for many years, but this book really added a lot of new information for me about the role of fat and protein in a low carb diet. I feel like I have a MUCH greater understanding of the role of carbs in our health. Jimmy adds a whole lot of anecdotal stories along with summaries of published medical studies about people and conditions that have been helped by ketosis. Super inspiring to me.
I highly recommend this book to anyone, but especially to someone struggling with weight, diabetes, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, neurological disorders, alzheimers, cancer or anything!
I walked away from this book with an understanding that low carb and ketosis are truly keys to living a long, healthy life free of the scourge of modern diseases. Thank you Jimmy!

Too much 'dinging'
After reading the reviews, I was very excited to get this book. Unfortunately, for every 'Moment of Clarity' in the book, the audio version will 'ding' so you know you should pay attention/focuses on an important piece that was just told in the book. In the book, every other paragraph is a 'Moment of Clarity'! By the time I got to the second chapter, I couldn't handle the constant dinging and had to buy the physical book instead. I was really disappointed as I wanted to listen to the book while at work, or while driving on my commute home, and don't have much time to sit and read.

Great information. Terrible presentation.

Yes, definitely, but not an audiobook.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Jimmy Moore?
Benedict Cumberbatch. (I know, I know...)
Any additional comments?
I very much appreciated the information given in this book. There was a great deal of research behind the information, and as I follow Jimmy's blog, I find him to be a likeable character who writes in an approachable manner. I am glad I have read this book, as I found it invaluable. However, I will never LISTEN to it again, because I was ready to take that bell and throw it at someone.
