Harry Barnett, a middle-aged failure, leads a shabby existence. He is reduced to caretaking a friend's villa on the island of Rhodes and working in a bar to earn his keep. Then a guest at the villa - a young woman he had instantly warmed to - disappears on a mountain peak. Under suspicion of her murder, Harry becomes obsessed by the mystery that has changed his life and begins to trace back the movements and encounters that led to the moment where she vanished into the blue.

Quickly drawn into this tale of twists and turns, mystery and dark corners. Excellent narration with well voiced characterisation.

Compelling listen

Picked up this audiobook on a whim, and glad I did. A bit of a slow burner but keeps you completely hooked and entertained throughout the 17 odd hours. Would have preferred a couple more seconds in between some of the chapters as they seemed to flow into each other sometimes, but other than that the production and narration were exceptional. Goddard writes beautifully and have already investigated which of his books to download next. A great story and would recommend.

First Goddard book .... but won’t be the last

I was hooked from start to finish.
The book is excellently well read and the story twists and turns in the most absorbing way. The descriptions of character and location are brilliantly written and the story so absorbing that I whizzed through it in record time

Just brilliant

Kept my interest all through. Had an idea fairly early on who the main "baddie" was (won't say who as I hate it when reviewers give the plot away). Having said that there were some surprises which were completely unexpected . It's so good to read a well written book (because sadly not all novels are these days). The narration was excellent and was a pleasure to listen to.

Really enjoyable read
