But, during his third assignment to Syria, Alpeyrie was betrayed by his fixer and handed over to a band of Syrian rebels. For 81 days, he was bound, blindfolded, and beaten. Over the course of his captivity, Alpeyrie kept his spirits up and strived to see, without his camera lenses, the humanity in his captors.

In Algeria a terrorist network that controls the illicit trade in guns, drugs, oil and cigarettes is preparing to murder a hundred US and British energy workers unless a ransom is paid. The British and American intelligence services are competing to find the kidnappers for very different reasons. One person can see how everything is linked and that both MI5 and the CIA are being manipulated as part of a grotesque marketing campaign.

Story
In 2011, Marwan Hisham and his two friends - fellow working-class college students Nael and Tareq - joined the first protests of the Arab Spring in Syria, in response to a recent massacre. Arm in arm they marched, poured Coca-Cola into one another’s eyes to blunt the effects of tear gas, ran from the security forces, and cursed the country’s president, Bashar al-Assad. It was ecstasy. A long-bottled revolution was finally erupting, and freedom from a brutal dictator seemed, at last, imminent.

You love guns, or you hate guns, read it.
I assumed this would be another Lefty anti-gun political marksmanship piece.
Hold on.
It is, and it isn't.
It opens-up your eyes to a gunshot without blinking.... and leaves you with an outlook you never expected.... and an outlook you wish you had had, before reading/listening.
I have the Audible version.
Recommended.
