Absolutely, on-the-edge-of-your-seat, fantastic!
ML Hamilton has really delivered in this much anticipated book! If this is your first Peyton Brooks book, please stop. This book continues where the previous book ended (on a cliff hanger, I should add) and is the culmination of a complex series of Mafia related cases the San Francisco Homicide department had been tackling through a number of books. So, please, do yourself a favour and go to the beginning. It is worth it!
So.... this audiobook! It was so tense and stressful. The audiobook is really 13 hours of fast-paced development and action. Every bit of foundation that ML Hamilton has carefully laid in previous books is finally slotted together to form a complex puzzle on the verge of being solved. The bodies are piling up. The San Francisco Homicide department and the FBI Ghost Squad join forces to solve the crimes. After all, no one who targets one of their own should expect to get away with it! I don't want to give anything away but we do find out what happened to Marco. Additionally, a number of pending cases are resolved.
Kelley Hazen narrates this book with panache! She really manages to capture and express those subtle nuances that take a simple narration to a stellar performance. She had me diving into the book in such a visceral way that I feel like I am a fly on the wall, privileged to experience the story unfold. The ML Hamilton-Kelley Hazen author-narrator combination is magical!
Absolutely loved it! Not sure how this can be topped, but I know ML Hamilton can do it! I am already eagerly anticipating the next Peyton Brooks book!

An Awesome Listen
I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the narrator and found it very enjoyable. As with all the other books, this book is suspenseful and action pack showing both the bad and good sides of society. After the explosion that blow up both cars and the front of their house, Peyton and Macro are living with Abe. Marco's officers are working with the FBI at FBI headquarters. Both Peyton and Macro are goblin hunting. As you listen you'll experience a whole range of emotions, and you won't want to turn it off. This series is perfect and the narration just adds to the enjoyment. This is my favourite series and I'm so looking forward to the next book.

It had so much promise
For a series that started out red hot, overarching story lines across several novels, cliff hangers, etc..the story telling is off the charts, makes you feel like you are there with them. Then this novel comes out. Let’s start with the reporter Harper McCloud. She might be the worst fictional character since Zha Zha Binks. There is no rhyme or reason for her to have a major role in this story lime. It’s so painful to see the author have to create total nonsensical scenes that breaks up the story line and not in a good way. Secondly, the author seems to be trying to hit every liberal bullet point in todays world. Look at each character and how they are stereotypical of how a Liberal World would want it to look. A 6’5 Somoan make secretary, all white guys are big and dumb except Jake. Speaking of Jake, I don’t know any white guys who act like him. The smartest of the characters are either black or brown. Women are pushed to the back, Bambi and Rosa and the only reason Peyton is solving crimes is because she is black, otherwise she would have Dante as the lead, with no experience. I haven’t read the last two books but in the Whistler tensor Peyton said she didn’t want her child to follow archaic gender roles. Say what? Is the author going to have Peyton discover the gay gene and a third gender by the series end? WTF? I hope they have a boy so Marco can come home to his toddler son wearing make up and a dress. But considering the author has made him out as an idiot who can’t talk then I’m sure he would be okay with it. This series had so much potential

I hope she has a girl. I have all the books, and I recommend that when you rad her books read them in order or you may not understand what is going on in them. I give you five stars across the board on every book because i love the author and the narrator. If i every finish writing my book i would like her to read my books. What a awesome read. Great Read
Goblins in San Francisco (Peyton Brooks, FBI Book 9) was a good read by M.L. Hamilton. Everything is coming into place for Peyton and Marco and their future looks bright and secure. Marco is still battling the mob in San Francisco, and it has become personal. Marco is threatened and Peyton will do anything to keep her man safe. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more by the author. I loved Kelley Hazen's narration and how she brings life to the character.

A great story, BUT
I'm deeply enjoying the story of Peyton Brooks. ML Hamilton is an outstanding writer and Kelley Hazen brings the Peyton Brooks World to live, like no one other. The story is nicely paced, drives from various directions to the center point and captures the listener to wanting more. Especially the ending is something only a writer of the caliber of ML Hamilton can come up with. it. The little world of Peyton Brooks keeps fascinating me, and this is to the benefit of Kelly Hazen's performance as the narrator.
Now why did I give "only" 4 stars in Performance. As outstanding story and story telling it is, I'm now seeming to "nit pick" but in order to be a perfect in everything, for me it has to be PERFECT. Background: I was born in Germany, lived there for 33 Years, met my wife and immigrated in to the USA and naturalized there. We live on the Westcoast. Well, Kriminalhaputkomissar Becker of the Bunsdekriminalamt (BKA) is portrait as a typical "German" nothing wrong with it, but there are nuances which a German will pick up on quickly.
1. Only the GSG9 (Grenzschutzgruppe 9, the Bundesgrenzschutzes (GSG9 is the anti terrorist unit of Germany, highly specialized), if, drive Audi A8's. This is a typical car, the chancellor or her detail will drive, not a BKA member, not even as a rental.
2. Hamburg is in West Germany (I now Germany is reunited, hell I was part of it as a West German Soldier!!) As such, A German would not call the "Comrades" from the FBI, comrades!!! Comrades is out of its history a East German / USSR term used in an "official" capacity. He would refer to a fellow FBI agents as "Our friends from over the big pond"
3. I much admire Kelly's performance and there's ABSOLUTELY nothing wrong with it, yet as a native speaking German, she's trying her best to pronounce the German words in the book as good as she can. But it would have been better if a native speaker would have made those narrations. The entire scenery felt as it was more like a espionage story in Berlin during the "cold war" than in the 2000's.
Again, I'm nit picking and I can appreciate everything, after all I'm actually a tad sad, that this series soon is coming to an end. I wear my tongue on my sleeves and I'm not ashamed to admit, that ML Hamilton, together with Kelly Hazen, have been capable of sending me for 100's of hours on to a roller coaster when it comes the feelings of someone which lived a similar life of Agent Brooks and Marco DeAngelo, so from laughter over a special scene and its meaning, especially "Jakes, hey Adonis, "Captain", erm Captain Adonis" to crying my eyes out when Peyton is rescuing Radar to hating Peyton to the core of my beliefs when Jake is brought down on to his knees after Zoe's death, you name it, they've did it and that's what I truly enjoy. I've a 2 hour commute daily and so Audible has become my go to medium to outstanding entertainment, and I've amassed a sizeable library now.
