Summary

The heartbroken knight. The runaway bride. A love between them that is forbidden!

The heartbroken knight:

Frenchman Sir Claude Montague returns to England still in love with Lady Rose after she has broken his heart eight years ago. She is now married and wants him by her side in her husband’s absence, as she is about to give birth to her first baby. He would do anything for Rose, but can he let go of the thoughts that bind him to his past, making him wish he were her husband?

The runaway bride:

Lady Evelina Du Pont escapes France and travels to England in disguise, running from an unwanted betrothal to an evil lord. She wants time to find a husband on her own and is looking for a man who will be loyal, protect her, and treat her kindly. Evelina is looking for love! First posing as a nursemaid, she is accepted at Briarbeck Castle, where she hunts for the perfect husband. But with the suspicious Sir Claude getting in her way, she cannot restrain herself from pointing out his flaws.

With Claude’s attention taken by the boisterous but beautiful Evelina, he finds a new home for his misplaced love. However, Claude is a knight, and she is naught but a servant. Falling in love with a woman of a different status is highly forbidden.

Will a woman searching for a man to love have her secret identity exposed by a knight who is living with a broken heart from the past? Or will the past and the future collide, causing both Claude and Evelina to change their ways before they realize the present isn’t always as it seems?

Forbidden: Claude is the story of the son of the hero and heroine from The Baron’s Destiny - audiobook three of the Barons of the Cinque Ports series. While it is recommended to listen to that audiobook first so that no surprises will be ruined, it is a stand-alone audiobook that can be listened to by itself without prior knowledge of any other series.

Claude

I love this book. It talks of Claude who is French who has been called back to England to help Rose who is due to have her baby. Toft, Rose’s
Husband and Rose’s Father have been called away for duty to the king.
So they have asked Claude to look after the safety of Rose. The narration was beautiful. To hear the story being told is fantastic as for myself I can get on with household chores, or sewing or baking, what ever you have to do and someone is telling the story, directly into your ear. I don’t feel robbed because I haven’t time to sit and read. I feel relaxed at having the book read to me. It is wonderful. xxx

An entertaining story

This is a fast paced story and although it’s not essential, if you read the story of Claude’s parents ( The Baron’s Destiny ) it provides the background to this story. Claude is quite a complex character, although given his history this isn’t surprising. Although, he has loved Rose for some time, he is attracted to Evalina, even though she is a servant. Evalina has secrets of her own! Claude is quite bossy at times and Evalina doesn’t always adapt well to being a servant. An entertaining read, Felix, the squire was amusing, always saying inappropriate things. The narrator’s voice was easy to listen to and he sued different voices for the characters.

Nice short story

Really enjoyed this short story. This is one of the books of Second in Command series but is a sequel to Baron's Destiny, of the series Barons of the Cinque Ports, John and Celestine's story, Claude's parents. The narrator was brilliant especially with his French accent. I loved the way he changed his voice for every character. This book is definitely worth a credit. The next series I will be listening to of Elizabeth Rose is Tangled tales. I am looking forward to these stories as they are love stories of all the fairy tales, Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, Beauty and the Beast etc. There are about 7 of them.
