Summary

Two brothers. One accused of a horrific crime. The other chasing a golden future. And an attorney navigating between both.

Fresh off his latest case, Attorney Nate Shepherd takes in some local high school football, hoping that a Friday night under the lights will give him a chance to relax with his family. It does - until the quarterback’s brother is arrested in the middle of the game.

Nate jumps in to represent the brother, who stands accused of a crime far worse than anyone imagined. As the internet rains fury down on his new client and a merciless prosecutor maneuvers to put the young man away, Nate scrambles to find out what happened and why. But no one, anywhere, seems to be telling him the whole truth.

Nate struggles to build a defense, unwinding a spool of facts that threatens to spill over into his own family’s lives. And with each revelation, the conflict grows until a new danger arises.

Will their secrets tear the brothers apart?

False Oath is the fourth book in the gripping Nate Shepherd Legal Thriller series. If you like razor-sharp dialogue, iron-willed characters, and slippery moral quandaries, then you’ll love Michael Stagg’s fierce courtroom drama.

Incredible

One of the best reads, I’ve read all the books in this series and this one keeps you engaged throughout.. I heart was pounding when it was time for the jury to return a verdict.. you won’t be disappointed.
George Newbern’s voice is captivating.. absolutely love it!

Nate going from strength to strength.

Most enjoyable of the first four Nate thrillers (enjoyed the others too). An interesting plot with a satisfactory conclusion that helped to further develop Nate's world and it's characters. Nice intersprinkling of humour helped to make the relationships feel real and create a connection. Superb voice narration again (as has been the case in all other Nate tales) and I comfortably recommend this to fans of the other Nate books or legal thrillers that aren't overly heavy handed with legal jargon or self importance.

Yet another brilliant story and performance

Have listened to the Nate Shepherd series from one to four in quick succession. Enjoy all the characters, remain completely engaged and love that each story bears no relation to the last. About to listen to the new, fifth, in the series and hope Michael Stigg can quickly write the next one (and retain the services of George Newbern)!

Great Story

A great story which keeps you interested right up until the end.

The narrator makes the book as with his way of phrasing and rhythm, you almost believe that the story has happened to him - he is Nate Shepperd!

A good series continues

The characters are well drawn and keep our interest. I was surprised that anyone could have a doubt about the innocence of the accused after being shown that the evidence doesn’t stand up.

Love the series

Got hooked straight away. And the narrator made the book. Got the first within included and bought the rest. Really worth a binge.

Great story

As with any series of books with the same lead character, the story goes in a rhythm, which is a plus for this book.
I thought I had guessed the end. I didn't,
and I enjoyed the book even more.
