About this listen

Attorney Nate Shepherd is back, representing a thief accused of murder. Was it a burglary gone wrong? Or is his client caught in a larger plot? A riveting new legal thriller by Michael Stagg.

Nate Shepherd can’t tell if his client is lying.

The police say Nate’s client beat a young reporter to death during a break-in. They have the evidence to prove it, from the stolen goods right down to the bloody aluminum bat. A celebrated prosecutor takes over the case, aiming to convict Nate’s client of murdering the reporter while robbing his house.

Nate’s client swears he didn’t kill the man. So, helped by a new associate and old friends, Nate dives into the overwhelming evidence in search of a defense. With each new lead, Nate’s suspicions grow that there might be more to this crime.

As evidence disappears and people vanish, Nate is forced into a high-stakes trial to prove that his client is no killer. With time running out, Nate discovers that far more than his client’s freedom could be at risk.

Lost Proof is the sixth book in the gripping Nate Shepherd Legal Thriller series. If you like razor-sharp dialogue, captivating characters, and riveting trials, you’ll love this fierce courtroom drama by Michael Stagg.

Have enjoyed this series immensely with only a few bumps along the way. Although this story was always entertaining and riveting at times it was let down by its over the top ending. One or two of the novels suffer from this and can detract and take one out of the story. But for a quick read this series is recommended

Entertaining mostly

I have lived all 5 of the Nate Shepherd books this far and this one did not disappoint either.
Excellent narration and I love the personalities of the characters.
Usual great court room drama and always keeps you guessing.

Genius of Audible to offer Book 1 free. I was hooked a year or two ago, and have eagerly consumed all the other Nate Shepherds. This latest was on preorder for a while and I went for it… judging that it would be worth the wait. It was! It landed in my library and I dived straight in. Absolutely brilliant as usual. Riveting, interesting and just so darn good. Nate is a great character and it’s so nice/unusual to see protagonists working together in harmony rather than being cookie-cutter antagonists. Nate’s family are extremely well-realised and, again — while Nate has his backstory — his wider family life is wholesome and reassuring. And there’s a little bonus in the person of Roxy. Sweet! Thank you, Michael Stagg. Kudos to George Newbern. Can’t wait for the next one!
