Story
In Avenging Home, we see how the long-running battle between Morgan's people and their number one nemesis plays out. While Morgan thinks this is the biggest threat they face, there are things on the horizon he cannot yet see that are going to dwarf these problems. Morgan has lived in a vacuum. He's had little information about the outside world. While he's used radios to listen to what he can, there's been precious little real information.

Story
The news is full of disturbing events today. There's war and rumors of war. There's the false recovery of the economy. Faith in the US economy is extremely low. Foreign banks have either slowed their purchases of Treasury Bonds or, in a few cases, begun unloading them. We have a current election that is rife with corruption, extreme partisanship, and outright fraud. It would appear the left in the country is ready to do about anything to see their candidate elected.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

Cal's "honeymoon" didn't start off quite how he'd planned. For starters, he was heading somewhere he didn't actually want to go. And secondly, he was going alone and unmarried. He had no idea that his first visit to New York City would also land him in the middle of a domestic terror attack, forcing him to flee Manhattan in a desperate bid to survive. This was no ordinary terror attack. The Movement, in a misguided attempt to seize political control of the USA, unwittingly invited the destruction of their homeland.

Story
Ambitious college student Daniel Walker has his world turned upside down when he begins having prophetic dreams about the judgment coming upon America. Through one of his dreams, Daniel learns of an imminent threat of an EMP attack that will wipe out America's electric grid and all computerized devices, sending the country into a technological dark age. Living in a nation where all life-sustaining systems of support are completely dependent on electricity and computers, the odds for survival are dismal.
Summary
Morgan has managed to get through a lot. Having made it back to his family and dealt with the issues of unscrupulous neighbors, he then had to deal with the presence of the federal government and their nefarious activities. But with the help of his close-knit group he prevailed. Life is settling into a familiar routine. And with the help of the US Army, they are starting to rebuild their community. But just when Morgan thinks things are assuming some kind of normal, another surprise lands in his lap. He's made sheriff.
Harkening back to a time when law enforcement was a local face in the community, Morgan is forced to step up and be that face, much to his chagrin. With the help of Thad, Danny, and the rest of the crew, he accepts the challenge and tries to make a positive impact. But he's in for yet another surprise. New foes will arise, and old ones will return to conspire to destroy his efforts.
Morgan's group will suffer loss, injury, and constant assault. His new position has made him a target as well as those he loves. The peace and tranquility that the group has fought so hard for will continue to elude them. The fight, as Morgan soon learns, is just beginning.

Good collection
I really liked these books the first time round, but listening to them for the second time they get more bogged down with how to kill people and get away with it when there is no law. No remorse.. you stole a chicken bang you're dead...you looked at me the wrong way.. have a bullet to the brain. Saying that they are still worth a listen although coming from a country where guns are not allowed, it makes me feel glad I can be on the outside looking in on the USA. Duke Fontaine started out reading these books well but I am not sure if the director was changed but his narrating started to become very staid with unnatural pauses.

This is my 4th listen and I am still loving it. As I said about other books in this series, I won't go so far as to call it a "classic" but I will confess that I keep coming back. The writing is compelling and the delivery is outstanding. I only wish there were more books in this particular series.

Horrible story
I have listened to all of these books. I have waited for some decent character development. I have waited for a decent ending. These books are rhetorical and sound like they have been taken directly off of Wikipedia. I tried giving each book a chance because I like post apocalyptic fiction and I liked the first book.however I wasn't even able to finish this last one I'll be returning for my audible credit.

Story didn't really progress
I've been a fan of this series for several years now. Honestly I'm a little conflicted over the narrator. My issue is that once you've heard an outstanding narrator it's hard to compare them to average or moderately good narrator. After listening to Christian Rummel narrate for DJ Molle it almost seems unfair to compare other narrators to him. The narrator in this book was driving me nuts. It would go something like this "the wall was splattered with blood.......and tissue" or "the group was waiting to be picked up..... by the army". Maybe I'm being overly critical. You will have to be the judge. The other main issue I have was this book didn't really progress the story line. I feel like between the first chapter and the last chapter the story line was virtually in the same place. We established that there is a band of misfits and they teamed up with DHS to give Morgan's group trouble. That's it. It took over 10 hours to say that. This book should have been part of the other books in the series. Honestly I feel like I wasted a credit because this entire book was filler for 11 hours. It's not enough to get me to stop listening to the series but I really hope we can move along in the next book.

Decent storyline, terrible performance
If you can get past the juvenile dialogue, and what sounds to be reading from a stuttering teleprompter, the storyline is actually decent. The dialogue sounds as though it was written by someone whose only exposure to the English language was 1970's public service announcements and after school specials television, while the performance sounds like someone's leaky typewriter spilled commas randomly throughout the text. About every 3 words Duke Fontaine pauses and then seems surprised there's more to be said. Think if Captain...James...T...Kirk and IBM'S Watson had a love child that went on to be a narrator.
I just can't stop listening to these books, mostly because I've already invested so much in the story I feel like I can't quit now until I know how these people, who are clearly victims of the invasion of the body snatchers, fare in the end.

Enforcing Home does not disapoint, seemlessly fits
Would you listen to Enforcing Home again? Why?
I listened to the other five, three or four times. I see no need to change here. They just get better and better. Why? Because I like the story.
What other book might you compare Enforcing Home to and why?
Although different in many ways, there are similar components in "One Year After" by William Forstchen, both stories flow nicely.
What does Duke Fontaine bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Continuity. I have some audio books that are series with different readers and that kind of changes the overall flavor. I have some where the reader has is good sometimes and lazy at others, which become annoying. There isn't much I'd change with Fontaine, save maybe a few less "he said" "she saids". All in all, he's very good.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The future ends, only for those who give up. or maybe just, never say die.
Any additional comments?
I've gotten several books on this same vane, only a few kept my attention and got me to buy the next one. I pray we don't have long to wait for book 7.

Series started well then turned tedious.
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
Someone who enjoys books that "tell" instead of "show."
Has Enforcing Home turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. Just this series.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Duke Fontaine?
Ray Porter
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Disappointment
Any additional comments?
The series started well; exciting, lots of action and tension - although with the usual listing of apocalypse-approved equipment common in the genre. But starting with book 5, the series has bogged down into tedium. Hours spent in endless description and conversation and repetition. Find some ice for a drink of water? Be prepared to hear every character exclaim how good ice water is on a hot day and with every vocal and visual emotion told to you with "he said", "he exclaimed," "she shouted." What to know how to build a water tank and associated water aqueduct? You'll know EXACTLY how to do it with every step told to you in exact detail. I could overlook the amateurishness of the writing if SOMETHING were happening but the last two books (5 and 6) in the series have been bores. Book 5 was a fire(with EVERY character asking "will we have to move?" and the EXACT same response from the protagonist) and book 6 teases you with a new group of baddies and a resurgent DHS, but only 4 minor action sequences spread out over the book's endless "telling." Do yourself a favor and stop after book 4.

Untouchable
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Funny, exciting, great characters.......
What was one of the most memorable moments of Enforcing Home?
The Explosion at the market
Have you listened to any of Duke Fontaine’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Yes. Slower this time around.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes
Any additional comments?
Listened to all the Survivalist series books as well as hundreds of other apocalyptic novels. The Survivalist series stands alone at the top of my Favorites. My opinion, this is the best series in the genre, all others as well. Hope A. American keeps them coming, with Duke Fontaine as the narrator.

NEED TO HURRY UP WITH #7!
Any additional comments?
ALL of the books in this series are enjoyable. In this one, the women do seem to be taking on a less whiny tone, not completely there yet but much better than previous books. You really get attached to characters and feel like you know them. Sometimes the high school locker room antics of the male characters gets tiresome, but then again, they are guys...so.....yeah. All in all, this series is really enjoyable. Highly recommended, but definitely start at the beginning. Avenging Home had better be on Audible soon....can't wait to see what happens next!

Take a little more time editing the next book...
Folks I'm hear to tell you there are a lot, lot, lot of phony reviews for this book. I quite liked this series and was pretty invested in the family and compound. Book #6 though, felt like it didn't even get more than a token review by the author... I couldn't suspend my disbelief, got tired to death of the repeated comments and phrases (a good self-editor would have inked them out on the first reread), the obvious lack of understanding of TB and the stupidity of previously smart characters made listening to this one almost unbearable.
The increased amount of profanity, torture and extensive "locker room" male crudeness... changed the target audience... and I am out of the picture now. Best stopping point was Book 4.
And to make it worse, I didn't learn anything... except for product placement promotions and how to build a latrine... and I had flipping wasted a credit as this book ends without a stop point.
