Story
Morgan and his extended family could see the light at the end of the tunnel, dim though it may be. There was the promise of power once again. The plant was being repaired, and it looked as though it may actually run. While it meant lots of hard, sweaty work, the reward was worth the investment. The farm was growing strong, and community involvement was good. People were finally coming to terms with the fact that they needed to work together. So far Mother Nature had been on their side. But that, too, was about to change.

Story
The news is full of disturbing events today. There's war and rumors of war. There's the false recovery of the economy. Faith in the US economy is extremely low. Foreign banks have either slowed their purchases of Treasury Bonds or, in a few cases, begun unloading them. We have a current election that is rife with corruption, extreme partisanship, and outright fraud. It would appear the left in the country is ready to do about anything to see their candidate elected.

It was just a random mutation - one of a billion that happen in viruses every day. But this one was different. It exploded out of Somalia and spread across the oceans before anybody thought to look up from their cell phones to see what was going on. The infected breathed the virus into the air around them, spreading it through the cities faster than anyone thought possible. Hospitals were overwhelmed. Police lines crumbled. Quarantine sites disintegrated. Cities started to collapse.

Story
Dick, AKA Devil Dog's world changes drastically when the EMP takes out the power grid. The loss of electricity brings out the darker side of human nature across the city. A homeless Marine veteran living in the abandoned tunnels beneath Chicago, he's far better prepared than most people. Good folk have survived, but they are often outnumbered and outgunned. Only the tunnels provide the safety he needs.
Summary
In Enforcing Home, Morgan and his group suffered some loss. They discovered their old foes weren't gone, as they'd thought. Not only were they not gone, but they were also stronger than before. Morgan would have to deal with this threat while at the same time trying to restore some sort of quality of life to his community.
But this wasn't going to be easy. With the bombing at the market and the wounding of his daughter, Taylor, it became all too clear to Morgan that he was once again in a fight for the lives of those who mattered most to him. Taylor was injured and would need care for some time. It wouldn't be easy. Added to that was the realization that he would have to deal with second-guessing himself. Was it his fault that she was now hurt?
In Avenging Home, we see how this long-running battle between Morgan's people and their number one nemesis plays out. While Morgan thinks this is the biggest threat they face, there are things on the horizon he cannot yet see that are going to dwarf these problems.
Morgan has lived in a vacuum. He's had little information about the outside world. While he's used radios to listen to what he can, there's been precious little real information. But now he's found what he believes to be a reliable source and knows when and where to listen. But is it valid? Or is it simply propaganda? News and information can be powerful tools, but they must always be taken in context to make an educated decision. And the challenge is that there's only one source. When you have to make decisions that mean the difference between life and death, the process becomes even more critical.
So we'll follow Morgan and his tightly knit group as they are once again in the fight. Will they finally defeat the federal thugs in their backyard? And, more importantly, what will be the cost?

Excellent series!
This should be made in to a tv show.. I love the characters, the love of family and community.
I also like the candid resolve Morgan has and sometimes you need to just do what needs to be done whether you like it or not.
I absolutely enjoy listing to Duke Fontaine and think I would listen to flippin cook books if he were reading them.
Well done A.American please keep the series going or start a new one. 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺

Some of these reviewers are wrong!
I have to disagree with the people who said this book was a waste of time. This series has made me more aware of my surroundings and put a get home bag in my truck.
Now I do agree what's the chances of having a sf sarge pop up in your life and help you out? But it's always a warm and fuzzy thought to have in the back of your head.
I say keep writing because I am enjoying this a lot and hate to come back to reality!

A. American's Home Series
These books are like crack: Once your hooked, your hooked. They are more addictive than the old soap operas of the 70's.
I am a newbie to this series, only starting it earlier in January (2017). To date, I've listened to every single one of them. And, I have to say, everyone gets better & better. Number 7 (Avenging Home) is, by far, the best one, yet. I am anxiously waiting for number 8.
Duke Fontaine does an absolutely incredible job as the narrator. However, I do wish these books could be done in a Graphic Audio book style, with different readers for the deferent characters, and an occasional sound effect or two. The series would make a GREAT cable or TV series, too (just sayin').
Otherwise, I am a die hard fan. And will continue to follow the series tim the end (which I hope is not for many years to come).

My least favorite so far... lots of phoney reviews
So if you are really into this series and liked book 6 you will like book 7. If like me you found the plot getting stretched too thin and hard to believe... the violence with torturing for information, the "good ol boy" language a little rough... you are best stopping back at 5.
I had two major complaints:
1 - The author is apparently unaware of the clues he was leaving and not... I was literally sick during one part of the book with what they were doing and what the result would be... given the clues I thought had been dropped. When nothing happened... I was glad, but also was irritated at the sloppy writing and unawareness of the set up given the listener.
2 - There are a ton of purchased 5 star reviews on this book and I lose a lot of respect when I see it done. It started happening on books about a year or two ago. You can Google the company. They will provide reviews that say whatever you want about a narrator or book, either positive or negative. If you look at the reviewers... it is often their 1st or 2nd review.

Love this series...but....
Okay I have followed this series from the start. In book 7 we get the same quality as always but the story gets a little thin at times. We are given a hint of a major battle against the DHS and after Morgan's group is attacked the character just keep on doing their thing. Then the battle begins and ends without much fanfare. Seems like the story line is getting strained but I still love this series!!!

The last hour of this book is about the town pizza party. Two big events happen and there is about six hours of filler. Stop at book 4.
