Michael Maloney's narration is just right, the voice characterizations were just right, this is a delight to listen to. I read all Heyers romances as a schoolgirl and have returned to the books many times since. I will definitely listen to this recording again and again.

Michael Maloney was a fantastic narrator. I felt I was listening to a play, rather than a reading. Love this story anyway. One of Georgette Heyer's best. I only wish that Mr Maloney could have read it's prequel, These Old Shades.

One of my favourite Heyer novels and read many times, however, this is By Far the Very. Best. Audiobook Narration I have had the immense pleasure to listen to !
Michael Maloney deserves plaudits galore for this and I will certainly re-listen and look out for any other books narrated by this consummate actor.

This book along with the previous book These Old Shades are two of my favourite Heyer books, ones I can return to time and again.

Having recently discovered the joys of audio books I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it for a change. On first listening I agreed with a previous reviewer that the narration seemed rather fast, but I reduced the speed to 0.9 for my second listen and found it made a real difference. It was almost as if it had been recorded at this speed originally but speeded up slightly in production. Slowing it down highlighted the subtleties in the narrative where as they tended to blur into the whole at the original speed. Like the book It’s definitely an audiobook I will enjoy returning to time and time again.
