About this listen

Are there any decent people left?

Having reached his kids in Maryland, Ben is faced with the challenge of crossing the country once more and getting everyone safely home to Colorado.

The struggle to survive is the only constant in their otherwise unpredictable lives. With each passing day, Ben becomes increasingly cynical about the state of mankind and worries that the children will grow up to feel the same.

Remaining vigilant is no guarantee that they will avoid problems on the journey back. Even when things seem safe, danger and evil lurk in the shadows. Letting their guard down means inviting trouble.

Ben knows that the protection he provides for his children has limits and in the end, they must learn to fight for themselves if they are to make it home. But the hardest lesson comes when Ben’s two youngest, Bradley and Emma, discover that things are not always what they seem on the road.

Ok, this series box set of books is my first audiobook experience, but never the less I found it captivating,on edge of seat stuff, rooting for the main characters and it was delivered by the story teller in such a way that made it all the more seem like a real story this applies to all of this Dark road titles which are a continuous story that you will not want to stop listening too, I'm going to be disappointed when it finishes

Outstanding 😊

…until the last 30 minutes - just a lot of ultra right wing rambling and repetitive whinging. I really don’t know why I am still listening to this series, (except the narrator’s voice is good for helping me sleep).

Exactly as Dee said before. Am listening because it’s free and the voice helps me fall asleep.
Basically unless one is a gun waving man, they are worthless.

Ultra right, gun waving gibberish

I'm a good way through this series now and initially i was hooked, however, the storyline is becoming more and more about firearms and how they operate rather than survival in a post apocalyptic world. I'm giving the series one last book/chance and if the next one is 60% firearms vs 40% story line I won't bother with any more from this author. Separately, the narration is excellent.

Potentially Good but Firearms Obsessed
