I absolutely love all of these books but this one is standing out to be the funniest. I highly recommend the audio books which are read by the author so you get the comedy delivery. I sincerely hope there will be more to come.

Thank you Ian for making me smile! Wonderful tale...I will have to listen again to make sure I revisit the clues. For those who have not read Ian's initial autobiography about his move to France I recommend you read the book. It will make you understand some of the characters he invents in his fiction work. It will make you smile even more .

Love this writing. Constantly funny and beautifully crafted characters. Had a lot of trouble with the many French names and as a reader/listener you have to stay alert at all times to keep up with the many characters and plot twists. There are two characters I would prefer he left out as their exploits are not something I enjoy reading about. Thankfully they only appeared for a short while in this book and their exploits were not described in detail. Heaven. Therefore making this my favourite book. However, the way Ian weaves the complexities of characters together whilst presenting constant laughs is a gift to us all.

I read the first book by accident really as it was on a book shelf at a holiday cottage I was staying in and I decided to give it a go. I was hooked. Then I returned and was back to audible. Initially I downloaded the second book but wasn’t taken by the narration but I persevered and so glad I did. Really charming and good company on long journeys. When will book 5 be out on audible ?!
