Summary

From the best-selling author of Death and Croissants, a new murder mystery perfect for fans of Richard Osman, Julia Chapman, or MC Beaton

Saint-Sauver, home to Richard Ainsworth and Valérie d’Orçay’s detective agency, is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its town twinning with Anglethorp Spa in Lincolnshire. Events are planned, a huge brocante, street parties and the centrepiece, an exhibition boules tournament between the two towns and a team of international boules all-stars.

Everything is going well, the sun shines, the wine flows and the entente is very cordiale.

Until the mayor turns up dead in an antique dresser having apparently been killed twice. Inevitably Richard and Valérie have very different views on the subject and engage in their own battle, who will solve the crime first?

Another fun read. I love the characters and always a clever fun plot. Cannot wait for the next one.

These stories come to life with Ian Moore's naration - he is so dry and deadpan that you can exactly imagine Richard - who would do anything for a quiet life but always ends up in the middle of all the action. Highly recommend the whole series of books if you enjoy easy reading cosy crime.

Cosy crime at it's best

Just love these novels, so easy and enjoyable to listen to. The joviality of his voice makes me smile

Richard just wants a quiet life in the Follet Valley with his hens but events conspire against him at the car boot sale when they find a body in the wardrobe on his stall.

I adore this series and the newest instalment was fabulous. Mr Moore’s narration is perfection and he has me laughing and smiling along while I’m cooking in my kitchen. I look forward to a new one every summer, long may it continue. In a world full of fiction books that can be overtly political or just a bit miserable the Follet Valley series is like a ray of sunshine. If you haven’t yet ventured into this delightful world and are wondering whether or not to take the plunge, go buy book one ‘Death and Croissants’ you won’t regret it. You’ll meet a host of brilliant characters, the hens, a chihuahua and the indomitable Madame Tablier all set in idyllic rural France.

Wonderful, as always
