About this listen

He’s known by many names: Thanatos. Horseman. God’s last angel. And then, of course, there's the one I’m all too familiar with—Death.

The day Death comes to Lazarus Gaumond’s town and kills everyone in one fell swoop, the last thing he expects to see is a woman left alive and standing. But Lazarus has her own extraordinary gift: she cannot be killed—not by humans, not by the elements, not by Death himself.

She is the one soul Death doesn’t recognize. The one soul he cannot pry free from her flesh. Nor can he ignore the unsettling desire he has for her. Take her. He wants to, desperately. And the longer she tries to stop him from his killing spree, the stronger the desire becomes.

When Lazarus crosses paths with the three other horsemen, an unthinkable situation leads to a terrible deal: seduce Death, save the world. A hopeless task, made all the worse by the bad blood between her and Thanatos. But Death’s attraction to her is undeniable, and try though she might, Lazarus cannot stay away from that ancient, beautiful being and his dark embrace.

The end is here. Humankind is set to perish, and not even the horsemen can stop Death from fulfilling his final task.

Only Lazarus can.

✨ First Book Review of 2026 ✨
And it goes to Death, the fourth and final book in the Four Horsemen Series by Laura Thalassa.

This series is absolutely phenomenal!! Each book somehow gets better than the last. The plots are gripping, The writing is top-notch, and the balance between graphic battle scenes and spicy, emotional love stories is perfection. Add in fierce, unforgettable heroines and four supernatural beings tasked with bringing about the apocalypse… and you get a story that ultimately delivers the most powerful message of all: love conquers everything.

This final installment leans hard into the enemies-to-lovers trope as Death meets Lazarus, a woman who cannot die. From infancy, she has survived every possible form of death; healing completely no matter the injury. Life and Death, locked in an eternal dance, finally collide. Death (Thanos) actively tries to avoid Lazarus, having watched his brothers, Pestilence (now known as Viktor), War, and Famine, fail their missions by falling in love with their mates. However, Fate has other plans. As the story unfolds, the brothers return to aid Lazarus in stopping Death to save not only their world, but their mates and children as well.

⚠️ Important note: This is a series that must be read in order for maximum impact.

Goodness me. Bittersweet. Perfect ending to an epic series. And the performances of the actors through all the graphic audios were outstanding. So many emotions.

Emotional and compelling

5 🌟
With Death, Laura Thalassa brings the Four Horsemen series to its inevitable conclusion. If Pestilence was intimate, War was brutal, and Famine was sharp-edged and seductive, Death feels mythic — colder, quieter, and more existential.
Death himself is exactly what he should be: detached, ancient, and terrifyingly resolute. He isn’t misunderstood in the way the previous Horsemen sometimes were. He is duty incarnate. Watching him unravel — slowly, unwillingly — under the influence of humanity and love is where the novel finds its emotional weight. His relationship with Lazarus “Laz” Gaumond brings a different dynamic to the table: softer in some ways, more spiritual in others. Laz’s compassion and moral steadiness contrast beautifully with Death’s apocalyptic finality. What I loved especially is how the novel ties the entire arc together. The series has always asked whether love can soften even the embodiment of destruction, and Death answers that question in a way that feels earned rather than convenient.
Overall: A somber, romantic, and deeply satisfying finale that lingers long after the last page.

Combining of all four horsemen.
